Collective will be going offline for maintenance starting now. Will update when we are back online.
We’re looking at performing server maintenance later today, so there may be some downtime! It will likely start at around 00:00 UTC.
At this point the DNS issues should be resolved fully for the Collective.
The Collective is having a DNS issue. It has been reset but can take up to 24 hours from this post to update globally.
We are aware that the server is currently down and we are working with our host to resolve the issue.
https active, all mods and forum software updated. DNS is still propagating, it may take a day until this is finished. Working on email settings now. Expecting forum to be online soon. Archive is currently active and accessible via https.
Collective is up again! Many thanks to our hosting’s tech support!
As of 8PM Eastern September 27, the Collective Database had a couple of tables that were corrupted. The only option is a revert to a backup of the database which is underway.
Fingers crossed this will fix things, but it will be a while.

There still is a problem with the DNS update for the Collective. It is being investigated and Collective users can expect to find an email from me about this, I’ll update further as more known.

As previously announced, we are going to be adding a firewall to the Collective.
When this happens the Collective WILL BE OFFLINE FOR UP TO 24 HOURS IN THE WORST CASE.
When the site is down, the screen shown below will be appearing instead of the Collective.
The problem is that the firewall will not open until the worldwide DNS has been updated. This takes some time, and from my experience in the past, the best we can hope for is 4 hours and the worst is 12 hours.
My plans are to turn on the firewall:

Please be aware of this and plan accordingly. If there are comments about my plans for this, please leave a comment on the post about this in the Announcement board on the Collective and if I need to reschedule, then I’ll do so if there’s an issue for the Collective Membership about this.

Our hosting is currently doing some maintenance on a number of servers in one of their data centres.
It is possible that the Collective will be offline between 1:30 AM Eastern and 6 AM Eastern this morning for 45 minutes at some point.

I’ve received several notes here on Tumblr recently asking about some advertising that has appeared which has the Collective’s URL attached to it…
I just wanted to state that this is not coming from the Collective, the Collective Admin, or is any sort of official Collective communication or advertising, no matter what form that might be.
The Collective does not advertise.
The Tumblr address hypnopics-collective.tumblr.com is the only official connection with the Collective Admin which exists on Tumblr.
Any postings on Tumblr which originate from other accounts are made by individuals that may be members of the Collective and doing so on their own. These postings are not done with the support of the Collective Admin in any way, shape or form.

Obviously both of these accounts are not all that active. Some have asked if there are going to be anything other than announcements on either.
To be honest, there really isn’t any other purpose for the accounts other than if the Collective server goes off-line or for notes about donation drives or other similar things…
