DRUCK Season 3 anniversary rewatch

Life is now … with you

I wrote this text comparing the final words of season 3 from SKAM, DRUCK and WTFock 2,5 years ago as a part of criticism of the latter. I reread it today and I still think that druck’s version is the best

SKAM - Isak is with his friends, they are all decorating for Christmas, working together. He talks to Eva about serious issues, apologizes, speaks about his relationship with Even, about good and bad days and finally says “It might be cliché but you never know who is going to die tomorrow. Whether you believe in Allah, Jesus, the theory of evolution or the parallel universes there is only one thing they all know for certain … That life is … now.” These words sum up the season – people are different but they all should appreciate their life and live it in full, spreading love and care

WTFock - Robbe and Sander are at a Christmas party, too, but they are separated from their dancing friends by a door frame. They are talking about the plans for the next day, goofing and Robbe says out of the blue: “You know… It might be cliché but you never know who’ll be alive tomorrow and who might die. The only thing we know for sure, is … that we’re alive right now.”  I am not sure what he means, I understand it as “I don’t care what is happening tomorrow, let’s enjoy the party now”. Besides they are talking about themselves, excluding friends

DRUCK Matteo is at the party too, but he is among his friends, in the midst of them. They are sitting close, very intimate and talking quietly. Hanna asks Matteo about his future plans, and he says “Life is now. With you”. Matteo had a difficult time and finally came to peace with himself, he knows now his friends love and support him, he is rebuilding his connection with his mother and he has found the greatest boyfriend. I think he means that it’s time for him to pause and value what he has now, to appreciate love and friendship and freedom. Isn’t it the best version?
