If you you like the outdoors please consider spots that are not only less popular, but maybe that you didn’t even know were spots.

You may say “the popular parks are popular because they’re the best!” And there may be some truth to that. But the BEST places I’ve ever been – the least peopley, most natural, most full of animals and bones and flowers and water features, and most interesting to explore–have always been completely random. Not even unpopular parks, just….not parks!

The fields at the end of some cul-de-sac. BLM and DOT land. That weird copse of trees behind a pile of trash by the beach. A lake full of borax on the side of the road.

You don’t have to assume all land without “Welcome to This Official Park” signs and bathrooms and giftshops is de facto private land, guarded by a legion of snipers ready to illegally murder anyone who steps on it without even asking them to leave first, and also they don’t care enough to put up fences or even signs.

Yes I know you heard of someone who blatantly trespassed on clearly-labeled land for 10,000 hours and got in trouble for it eventually…but seriously, you CAN just wander into fields that don’t have any indication of ownership sometimes.

Anyway here’s some pics that I can’t tell you where they’re from exactly because it’s not a park with a name to share.
