1890: Maurice and Lily Vincent with their five sons: Peter, Arthur, James, Malcolm, and Brian.
Maurice, the lord of the house, had inherited everything he had from the old money in his family before him. After finding little success in his political endeavors, he and his family relocated from the city to a great manor on a hill overlooking Henford after his connections landed him a prestigious position in the county’s government.
The lady of the house, Lily, was a socialite who had always sought to be the epitome of grace and glamour, and to make her family the image of prestige and perfection. The move to Henford meant she had to work harder than ever to win the favor of its well-to-do. She spent much of her time keeping in correspondence with her fellow ladies of high society.
