I really didn’t expect to like Bob, I thought he would just stand in the way the whole time. But he genuinely cared about Joyce and her boys, he wanted them safe and cared for. He wanted to connect to the boys, he wanted to make them his family too. He was already fond of Will and he actually admitted to liking Jonathan but he knew it would take a while to win him over.
It didn’t matter if he made it out or not in the end for him. He looked at the man he knew his girlfriend kind of had a thing for, the man that has a thing for his girlfriend in return, and just asked him to get Will and Joyce out safely.
Bob Newby was selfless, kind, dorky, and caring. And that’s what made him a superhero, that’s what made him important. And goddamnit, he deserved better.
