#igtober
October is officially one month away, and if you’re a part of the artist community and/or have been following Inktober in some capacity, you’re probably aware that there’s been a lot of dissent surrounding the event. I won’t bore you with the details, but suffice to say I’d rather not give Inktober any more free publicity if I can help it.
That said, ISEB has a long history with Inktober, starting from the very first year I started this blog in 2017. Inktober kept me sane during my dad’s cancer diagnosis, got me experimenting with media I hadn’t touched since college, and I gave away over a hundred sketches in the three consecutive years I’ve participated in it. Truth be told, it would feel like something was missing from this blog if I passed up on doing Inktober this year.
There’s an obvious solution to my dilemma, which is simply to participate in the spirit of Inktober under a name that isn’t associated with so much toxicity. So that’s exactly what I’m going to do! This will be the last time I’ll mention the name Inktober on this blog again—from now on, October 1st will be the start of…
Igtober! ٩( ᐛ )و
Since Igtober will work exactly like its predecessor, I was hoping I could recruit the masses to help me come up with some prompt ideas. Specifically, I’d love to see some one-word prompts that truly embody everyone’s favorite strategist—words like glasses, coffee, daggers, funambulism, etc. If you’d like to suggest a word or two, you can fill out this Google form right here as many times as you like. And if you’re an artist who loves drawing Ignis, feel free to join in the celebration as well! I’ll do my best to check the #igtober tag all month long and reblog anyone who participates.
Lastly, in a year filled with sadness and strife, I feel like Igtober presents an opportunity to do some good. In past years, I’ve always given my sketches away for free, but this year I’ll be taking a different route, one I hope you’ll all be on board with. On November 7th, 2020 I will be participating in Extra Life Game Day by playing Final Fantasy XV for 24 hours straight to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. I’ll go into more detail in a future post regarding that event, but my plan is to make all 31 of my Igtober drawings available as donation incentives, much like I did with the #AdamvsISEB stream earlier this year. Sketches won’t be priced outrageously—likely in the $10-$15 range—so hopefully some of you will be able to nab a sketch and contribute to a good cause in the process.
Until then, I hope to see some awesome and clever prompts from you all! I’ll leave the Google form open for a couple of weeks, then assemble the prompts into a list everyone can use and distribute! Here’s that link one more time:

[Side Note: I’m not the first one to coin the term Igtober—that honor belongs to @atarostarling, @he6o, and @igniheart, the latter two being excellent Ignis artists in their own right! Go give them a follow if you want to see more Ignis-related goodness on your dash!]
