Color Me with You Bonus Story- Kicho

I normally don’t put the effort in collecting bonus stories from the limited time events because 95% of the time I don’t think they’re worth it but this story has several different details that I wanted to discuss in further detail.

So the story starts with MC in Sakai rescuing a little boy from drowning and obviously getting herself completely soaked through. Kicho suddenly appears and grabs her hand and starts dragging her off the scene without explaining anything to her like a LI in a K-drama. MC asks him where he is taking her and he responds that he is bringing her to his merchant house to get changed from her soaked clothes.

Then things start to get interesting. After changing, Kicho comes in and is bothered by the sight of MC’s crooked obi and starts untying it to tie it again properly. Besides being flustered, MC comments on how Kicho is “really good at tying obis”.

Then we accidentally get a really funny scene.

Afterwards,Kicho starts to fix MC’s mess of a hair and begins combing through her tangles. He comments that he is doing this because he wanted to “reward her” for saving the young boy back then. When MC inquires further, of course he shuts her off and tells her that he doesn’t want to continue the conversation anymore.

Then we get this scene that shows just a bit of their chemistry and relationship.

And the finishing touch after that interaction is that he wants to decorate her hair with a hairpin. MC comments that he must be good with women because he knows how to pick out accessories and style hair. Maybe…he has sisters?

Of course, he shuts her off yet again and after reconciling orders her to return home.

Speculation

So, what did we understand from this scene? First, there are several clues that strongly suggest that Kicho is very good at handling tasks that normally only women would be good at. I don’t think its just because he’s a merchant, but something else. In Motonari’s route, they brought up the topic of twins and how “cursed” it is to have two identical children. (This is based in real history). There’s a pretty good contention that “Kicho” was a twin born along with his sister, the original Kicho in history given that he acknowledges that he has always been a man. Since the time travel thing happened, my guess is that both boy/girl Kicho were able to survive, and Kicho assumed the historical role of girl Kicho in history. It could also be that F-Kicho ended up being the twin being sacrificed, or maybe she passed away through mysterious circumstances at some point in her life.

However, Kicho seems to have some issue with the future that he feels that he needs to continue the chaos in the Sengoku era. I think it’s pretty obvious that he’s not actually a bad guy. He just feels that he needs to accomplish his goals through unconventional means, like making himself the ultimate villain to unite everyone. A big hint came from Kanetsugu’s route where he said “If [people] don’t feel threatened, they won’t value their own lives.”

P.S. I just realized, he’s the opposite of Yukimura because he actually sells women’s accessories as a merchant.
