i am not gonna potentially derail it by adding anything in the tags or comments but this post reminded me of when handmaid’s tale (the book) came out and first nations people criticized how tonedeaf it was that margaret atwood wrote the ~utopia~ of ~canada~ in contrast to the dystopia of gilead, as if canada wasn’t/isn’t responsible for atrocities against the reproductive rights of indigenous people + also stole indigenous children away to be educated “properly” by colonizers
