A cigarette box with a painted cover image on porcelain tile of a swordfish jumping out of the water. The artist's signature is below the image: Reinbold. The box is covered with gold-trimmed blue leather. ALT

This box was sent to President Roosevelt by J. E. Ankus on June 23, 1941. Ankus was the parent of a polio patient admitted to the Warm Springs, Georgia, polio rehabilitation center established by FDR.

The interior of the box is lined with unstained wood and has two compartments, one with a pack of Peterson's Cigarettes.ALT
