Hot on the heels of the bright statement obi comes this extremely correct & proper Iromuji (patternless, solid color) kimono from Machigiya Store.

This beautiful soft pink kimono is described as sakura color, and would be very appropriate for a mother to wear to the shrine when taking her small kids for the 7-5-3 Festival Blessing. Note the delicate touches of pale blue in the obiage and the eri collar, both cooling the pink and adding a little bit of tonal contrast to keep the warm cream obi from melting into the warm pink. The blue breaks it up and makes it look very refreshing.

Iromuji are slightly formal, but you can still dress them down with more casual obi for everyday wear, or pair them with hakama and boots for a graduation-retro look. They’re easy to find in the used kimono shops because many people buy one to last their whole married life and then get rid of it later!
