I feel like there’s a parallel but terrible difference between the excitement of joining an old fandom but finding out that fans actually still post new content in it every so often, and the disappointment of being in anold fandom and watching interest slowly fade away as fans only post new content in it every so often
Being inside an old fandom with finished canon content and watching as it gets progressively smaller and less active hurts so deep because you wonder when it’ll just fade away completely
While joining and finding out even a small handful of fans still post new content in an older fandom with finished canon content is so exciting because the fandom still exists, even as small as it is
