Morgan feels the need to ask him to go out with the rest of the team, because, lately, he seems more open to it. He seems lighter somehow, and it’s not just his weight. He even went for a beer during guys night last month. The moment Morgan enters the office and sees the amount of paperwork spilling off of Hotch’s table, however, he is almost sure the boss-man is going to stay in late.

The shock on Hotch’s face, when he realizes it’s Valentine’s day is unexpected, but then again, Morgan had the same reaction just moments before, so he lets it slide. Hotch declines the offer, which is no surprise, but what is, is the fact that he starts packing his bag right then and there, and is basically ready to leave in seconds.

Rossi’s bicycle comment.

Morgan turns to leave, but his disbelief makes him look back, and as he does, just for a moment, he sees a floppy-haired, young Aaron. Who smiles. Who tells terrible jokes. Who calls his love every couple of hours. Who practically runs out of the office once he’s done with work.

Ever so slowly, his disbelief melts into hope. He closes the door in a daze and runs down the stairs.

He’s going to be all right.

Theyallare going to be all right.
