Actually really sad about John Mulaney. Can’t wait for the wave of people smugly implying that they always knew he was trash and anyone who liked him was stupid and/or bigoted as if he wasn’t hugely popular and memed constantly on here.

Like it’s okay to say you were wrong. Or that you are let down and disappointed because you were a fan. Like it doesn’t make you morally corrupt for having liked someone who ended up acting shitty…

couple people have told me they’re unable to send asks/reblog my stuff, but can still view my blog and send me IMs. I think it has something to do with the anons I had to block, so if you’re having this issue just send me an IM, if I “block” and then “unblock” you it seems to fix it??

Ok, Dadneto and Quickson fandom, I love you all. But I am not feeling the Peter is falling loser idiot son when compared to the more competent badass that is the Erik Lehnsherr.

Peter has the most potential to be the smartest person in room even smarter that the resident smart person Hank McCoy.

Now, why do I say this? Because of the Star Trek: Prodigy episode ‘Time Amok’ where due temporal anomaly the crew are each in different time dilations so for some 10 minutes seems like 10 seconds, while other in the slower 10 minutes seems like 10 months or 10 years. This was the case for Rok, the youngest around eight, where she teaches herself advanced mathematics and engineering and by the end of the episode she fixes the ship and become an engineer.

Relating this to Peter, because of his powers of superspeed time is different and the holding thing that’s holding him back is his self-doubt and self-confidence issues.

Peter is damn smart just look at the recuse the X-Mansion. He has to think about force, how students are going to land, who needs to get out first etc. The dude probably has a good understanding of physics and engineering. Honestly, I think Peter plays dumb and pretends not be as smart as he is until the situation demands and helps out.

He would be a killer in strategy and give Erik and Charles a run for their money in a game of chess.

I think he is definitely far, far smarter than anyone gives him credit for! I feel like he’s secretly a genius when it comes to science/math–on some level he’d have to be to calculate where to move everyone during slo-mo rescues, and he’d have to be good at engineering to make it so that his arcade machines move at a speed that’s comfortable for him. I think because of his ADHD he probably hyperfocuses on specific math/science topics (like, someone mentions one  niche science topic off-hand and he lights up and starts talking about all the details at a million miles an hour because he read a bunch of books on it when he was twelve and remembers it all), whereas I imagine Wanda was far more into reading/writing but struggled with math/science.

I think a lot of why he’s generally seen as dumb/spacy just boils down to people not being understanding/accommodating with him having ADHD (speaking from experience as someone with ADHD who was regularly talked down to/bullied by teachers and classmates for seeming “behind” or “not trying hard enough”, most of which is a direct result of ADHD and other neurodivergency that I have; turns out I’m actually not stupid at all, my brain just works differently! and I think that’s definitely the case for Peter).

I mean, I don’t think it’s bad to occasionally make jokes about Peter being stupid–heck, I made a post a few hours ago making a joke around that, so I’d be a hypocrite if I thought there wasn’t a time and place–but I do agree that if that’s the only way people view him (and it unfortunately often is), it just feels like ignoring how genuinely smart he is in the movies? Like, his brain canonly works way faster than everyone else’s. Of course he’ll seem out-of-sync with everyone else–but that isn’t a bad thing, it’s just different, and it actually allows him to calculate things much more efficiently than others. I also think him being the comic relief makes it harder for people to take him seriously, but it would have helped if he’d actually gotten more opportunities to really show how fast his brain works.

I wish the movies had explored his smartness more (or any), but I also just generally wish the movies had let him have ANY character development instead of teasing a father-son arc and never doing anything with it…. sigh. It would have been interesting to see how Erik and Peter are both very smart, but in really different ways.

I genuinely thought people were just talking about how Peter says self-deprecating jokes and feels that way about himself. I didn’t know people in the fandom actually thought that about his character. I thought people were like “Aw don’t say that stuff about yourself :(” kind of thing.

What is wrong with this fandom

@can-of-pringles I definitely think most of it is people thinking *he* thinks he’s stupid, although I may be wrong. I don’t think Peter fully appreciates how powerful his brain is, not just from his powers but because he’s simply a smart person, and I don’t think his self-esteem is the best.

I headcanon that he never finished highschool partly because of his powers and also because his teachers didn’t know how to handle his ADHD (teachers today can barely handle regular ADHD, but teachers in the 70′s helping a student with super-powered ADHD? oh dear). I definitely think dropping out of highschool and just generally growing up without his dad messed up his self-esteem, so he may genuinely believe he’s stupid even though he’s not; hopefully as he grows and understands his powers (and his ADHD) he’ll come to realize that he’s actually not an idiot, he just works differently, and that’s okay!

It must be stated that it wasn’t until 1954 Brown v. Board of Education, which laid the foundation for Individuals with Disabilities Education Act in 1975. In addition, Plyler v. Doe, the 1982 Supreme Court ruling that ensures free public education for all children, including undocumented students. Which by the by in my state the Gov. Abbott wants to do away with. God, what an asshole!

And there was also this big scandal at Willowbrook state school in 1972, which lead the passage of The Education for All Handicapped Children Act of 1975; after many class action law suits and a congressional investigation. Since the fandom really does love Even Peters in AHS, Willowbrook is what Briarcliff Manor in Asylum was based off of.

But it wasn’t until the 90s with the passage of and Americans with Disabilities act (ADA) Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, which is flawed and still many school and school district and it has to be taken up in family law. But the law was given teeth in 2004, but again its not perfect.

So, Peter really didn’t have any help until he came to the X-Mansion and Charles Xavier. There is a possibility that Peter is illiterate.

Not only would he be a natural at physics but he’d have to have an advanced understanding of the specific physics property of thermodynamics to be able to move other people at his advanced speeds without boiling their blood or at least setting them on fire. Hell, his clothes should in theory set fire. I know that it’s probably cartoon logic that they don’t but even in the comics we’ve seen Pietro run his shoes to bits when he really turns it on.

We also have in canon proof that he’s been excluded from things due to his mutation. Him competing in the ‘76 olympics lead to a ban on mutants competing in any olympic event and I think his medals were taken from him.

He’s an Olympian, a natural at physics, and can break the laws of said physics and refers to himself as a loser. :(

this is an insane way to talk about a predominantly singleplayer/co-op game, to be clear

Microtransactions and subscription based games have completely ruined video game analytics and given journalists even more brain rot than before

yeah

Elden Ring launched on the 25th of February.

The article was published the 15th of May.

So basically Elden Ring, a mainly single-player game, had a big amount on concurrent players for around 3 months. 79 days, to be precise.

A lot of online games don’t manage even a fraction of that, btw.

Agility trial weekend. Big Black Dog and I sure wish I could be running her.
