#japanese from anime
Ok guys, my very good friend has recently decided to go full freelance in teaching English to Japanese expatriates here in Ohio. In addition, she’s started up a youtube channel where she takes clips from anime and picks apart the Japanese (complete with kana and romaji subtitles which is takes labor but is extremely effective imo as a Japanese learner myself) to show that it’s not impossible to pick up some basic grammar bits and language essentials from anime.
I hate how there’s a view that nothing can be learned from anime when it’s simply not true…of course you won’t be a master from listening to seiyuu but all kinds of politeness styles and verbal conjugations heard irl are found in anime. Eventually, just like a foreigner living in Japan, you will pick up patterns. I flew through my first year (I’m a third year now) of Japanese because of anime lol.
I’m very happy to 1) have Jenny as a friend and 2) give her any advice on what to cover that us beginners struggle at. She is starting off very basic now in the mostly ritual expressions she covers, but will move onto more advanced stuff.
If you could please give her a watch or subscribe, or just share this post, I would really appreciate it. It takes major balls to do what she does and I really want to see her succeed at freelance; she really deserves it with all she’s done, and she gives me hope towards becoming freelance as an artist some far future day.

Are you using it right??
