We have many different kind of radish, but this is really big and fat.

It had a sign it said “ this vegetables is from Kyoto”. So I guess this is used in Kyoto for special Japanese meal there.

Salad time!

じゃがいも(Potato)、レタス(Lettuce)、だいこん(Japanese radish)、みずな(Potherb Mustard/Japanese green)、とまと(Tomato)、それに(and) オニオンドレッシング(onion dressing).

I like みずな(Mizuna/Portherb Mustard/Japanese green). I am not really sure about English name… there are always some problem to translate Japanese vegetables to English…

Local supermarket had a sign in the veggie corner showing different ways that you can enjoy eating daikon (Japanese radish) - upper part is sweet, so it’s nice for making salad or daikon oroshi (grated radish); middle part is softer, so it’s good for stews or oden; bottom part has a nice pungency, ideal for tsukemono (pickled daikon) or a soup ingredient!
