My first artwork of 2022 is actually something I’d promised an old friend before I even started production on the solo show in late 2020.

A drawing of his wife based on a facial photo from their wedding day and a fab vintage photo of her mum on her wedding day also.

Taking the lead from my first art love: Japanese woodblock prints by artists like #kikugawaeizan, #toriikiyonaga, #utagawakunisada, #kitagawautamaro and more.

If you’ve been following my stories you’ll know that this was my first time really using watercolours, Japanese ink and brush, masking fluid and tea-staining (to give the piece a vintage look)… so many things to potentially fuck-up but fortunately no major disasters.

The eagle-eyed among you might spot certain flaws but I think they just add to the overall effect ‍♂️.
