To all my friends struggling with depression, anxiety, and other mental / invisible illnesses:
If you got out of bed today, I am proud of you.
If you got dressed, I am proud of you.
If you ate a meal, I am proud of you.
If you drove a car, I am proud of you.
If you went around people, I am proud of you.
If you did some basic chores or ran errands, I am proud of you.
And if you didn’t do any of these things, I am still proud of you for sticking around on this planet. It’s okay, get the rest you need, you will be able to do these things soon.
Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it can’t hurt. Invisible illnesses are very real and can be debilitating.
