No more drag storytimes. No more kids at pride period. No more fun drag brunches. Christian fascists are doing their damnedest to criminalize being queer in any way shape or form. You dumb mother fuckers fell for their talking points hook line and sinker.
Plus, I can’t think of a single way the law could be worded that wouldn’t also ban trans people from just being in public. And even if it was possible they’d use the most broad language possible so that trans people can get arrested without any explanation. This is terrifying.
The dipshit who is threatening this is from the Texas congressional district 2. About 50 miles NE of Dallas, the entire district has less than 200,000 people. The largest city in the district is Greenville, population 28,000. The town’s slogan from 1921 to the 1960s was: “The blackest land, the whitest people.”
So. That’s. That’s what we are dealing with. The likelihood of him *not* getting reelected is…. slim.
That means, fellow Texans, that we need to be very very aware of how the congressional elections go in the midterms this fall. We need to push as many counties blue as we can, and we need to be ready to get LOUD if this shitheel actually puts this forward. (Normally I’d say anything this batshit and broad would be challenged immediately, but I’m feeling very… a lot about the courts lately.)
