It’s hard for anybody to be in a relationship with somebody who is as equally as stubborn as you, but that’s what you got with Coco. The two of you were very different people, but have the same kind of stubbornness, but Coco is somebody who is broken from all the things he endured from his life from his mother to being a sniper to barely claiming his daughter and trying to mend that relationship. This often led to arguments and breakdowns that led to things that shouldn’t be said and tonight was a breakdown.

“I hate you, Coco!” you yelled as the two of you were panting in the living room after an intense screaming match. The two of you stormed away from each other, you to the kitchen and him to his bike outside.

It was getting closer to 11pm when you decided to go to bed even though you were still angry at Coco so you laid in bed with your back facing the door and Coco’s side when you heard the door open and close. After a few minutes, Coco walked in and undressed before getting in the covers with his back towards you too. Just another night of getting into bed angry at each other, but there was a feeling in Coco that knew that everything will be alright because he knew he was changing for the better.

The next morning came and you were sitting on the chair with your cup of coffee when Coco walked into the kitchen and made himself a cup too. He sat down next to you and sighed, “hey. I’m sorry for what I said last night. I just want to let you know that I am changing for the better, but I just need time to show you that I’m worth it. Worth all the fights we been gettin’ into,”

You nodded, “I’m giving you time, Johnny. I’m sorry for saying the things I said last night too. It’s just you can be a difficult person and when you don’t work or anything, you go off on me when I don’t even deserve that shit. You’re gonna break soon and that alone makes me nervous,” you rubbed your temple, “because every time you break, you say something that involves my insecurities and past,”

It was a month later when another fight broke out and you were sitting on the couch while he sat on the floor with his back on the wall. He felt far away to you, but you were in the same room and that felt like the end of your road with him so you stand up and go into the bedroom and grab a bag to pack a few clothes in so you can stay a few nights with your best friend.

When you come back, you set your duffel bag behind the couch, “it seems like we’re at the end of the road,”

“I’d be better alone anyways,” Coco stared at nothing in front of him, but he knew it was just his pride talking because you and him can see that he’s a wreck as it comes out when he’s vulnerable.

Now it’s been a couple weeks and you were still staying with your best friend while Coco would go back to the empty house and think about all the mistakes he has made just wishing he would erase it. He was scared of you and how you were able to get so close to him, but now he was gonna do whatever it takes for you to stay with him.

Nobody really knew this, but the two of you were engaged and you kept the ring around your neck because you never really liked wearing rings as it bothered you a lot. That didn’t change much of the arguing because the passion that the both of you had had led to those ‘passionate’ conversations that were just the two of you just yelling at each other.

You always had him at the edge of his seat trying to analyze everything, but you knew that he was trying to find the better part of himself because he was tired of being so depressed about everything. He was searching for something that he thought was right in front of him and it probably was, but he was stubborn and thought there was something more. Even though you were stubborn, you weren’t as stubborn as him as you tried to tell him that it was in front of him.

Finally, he agreed to go to therapy for you because it’s worth it if it was going to make him the man that was worth it for you. You had been there through his worst moments and it was starting to hurt both you and him from the weight that made it hard for him to open up.

“I’m sorry for all the stress I put you through. I just want you to know that I love you to death,” Coco whispered to you as the two of you laid cuddled up to each other at night.

“I love you to death, mi amor,” you lightly kissed him as the two of you lost consciousness in each other’s arm.

It was worth the time you spent waiting on him.
