I don’t know how The Owl House is going to end up handling The Collector, but I’m always going to keep in mind that: 

1) They gave Belos the Draining Spell and knew exactly what was going to happen. They were GLEEFUL about it. The reason they stopped it was to get more players for a game, not to save everyone. 

2) Implied to have killed King’s dad.

3) Probably told Philip about Grimwalkers since he didn’t have one with him when Luz and Lilith went back in time. Still didn’t have one with him when he first met The Collector. The Collector helped him make them. Love Hunter, but Grimwalkers as a concept are very messed up: Making a being to replace someone that has died. Making Grimalkers involves killing other creatures for their organs. Plus, The Collector knew Philip killed them and laughed about it. There is a reason they are urban legend: Everyone who did know they were real probably realized how messed up it is to make one: For the person who died, the people who cared about them, and the Grimwalker themselves, after finding out the truth

4) The Collector has been alive for centuries 

5) Taught Philip everything he knows about magic and made him as powerful as he is. 

The Collector is not just some child that can be adopted and then let free on the Isles, The Collector is dangerous, and Philip would not have come nearly as close to killing everyone on the BI if not for The Collector’s help.
