“Talking ‘bout at the studio. Are you serious?” You whisper- yell at yourself. “Don’t even have the fucking brain to come up with something better.”

“Y/N, wait on me!” Your best friend, Kylie yells.

“Talking ‘bout ‘Baby, I love you’ but you out fucking some bitch behind my back.” You stomp your foot across the grass with rage. “You’re messing with the wrong girl.”

Kylie yanks your arm. “I bet it’s not what it looks like!” She desperately tries.

“If you’re not on my fucking side, leave.” You yank your arm back and march for the front door. Peaking inside of the little window, the little 2 story house seemed to be empty, but the GPS you put on Justin’s phone is telling you differently. Also, the Smart car outside is a dead give away.

You lift up the matt that says ‘Welcome’ and find a little shiny key hiding away. “How basic is this bitch?” You whisper, looking behind to find Kylie struggling in her heels to get across the grass. “If you’re going to cheat on me, at least show some respect and do it in a way I won’t find out.”

When you slide the key inside the lock and open the door, you are met with a simple little house. White walls in the hallway and a black rug laying across the floor. On the wall to the left there is a text you were too angry to read. After softly closing (not all the way) the door without a sound, you stepped foot in to the house. There’s a stairway on your right which you intended to use after you snooped around the living room across the hallway. No one is in there you noticed when walking. But nothing in the living room stood out more than the bright blue tricycle standing near the window. Your heart started to beat faster when you noticed the little kids toys. Books, paintings on the walls, baby clothing. The whole shebang. Your eyes watered and you wiped an escaped tear away. When you turned a around, Kylie was standing behind you, looking at the living room in shock. “I’m sure he can explain.” She whispers and you nod, walking past her, heading for the stairs.

All that was going through your head was 'He has a kid’ repeatedly. What if he does have a kid? Would you help him take care of it? You’re 20 years old, your life is just starting. Hell, you’re not even legally allowed to drink yet so how on earth are you supposed to take care of a child?

All these thoughts were running through your mind before you reached the top of the stairs, Kylie long forgotten. This was the moment of truth.

“Should I put it in there, sweetheart?” Your heart rate raged up when you heard his voice. Your boyfriend’s voice. Justin’s gentle, soothing voice. But he wasn’t talking to you. His voice was coming from a room. A room that says 'Sarah’ on the door in pink decorated letters. And you might have stood there for an hour, staring at the letters, while your heart was breaking and tears were spilling. Contemplating whether you would be able to handle what you are about to see.

Your fingers traced the door knop before grabbing it in your hand lightly. You took a deep breath, closed your eyes and turned it. The anticipation was deadly.

“I don’t think it’ll fit, Sar-” Justin’s voice suddenly caught it up in his throat when you opened the door. When your watery eyes met his hazel ones, his brows furrowed. “Y/N, how did y- I mean what are you doing here?”

It took a while for you to register the sight in front of you. Justin, one hand placed around a Barbie doll and one hand on the back of a young little girl around the age of 5, most likely 'Sarah’. Sarah has a little afro and light skin. The little girl was still busy trying to fit some doll into a doll house before she turned to you, noticing the interruption. Her big doe eyes were shining even though there wasn’t that much light. Her eyes then slid to behind me along with Justin’s.

“Sarah, why don’t you go find your mom for a bit?” Your heart clenched and you closed your eyes.

Sarah nods. You feel Kylie squeeze your hand for a second. “Please tell me it’s not what it looks like.” You plea, looking at Justin pulling himself up from the ground. You looked away from him. Suddenly you noticed the bright pink walls with pictures of multiple woman framed.

Justin sighs and stuffs his hands in his pockets. “It’s not what it looks like, Y/N.” Never have words really made you feel better but the words he uttered next, made your heart skip a beat and lifted the heaviness off of it too. “She’s not my daughter.”

Kylie sighed as well. Minutes tick by. It felt like hours though. Why on earth would Justin go out of his way to hide this girl from you? Why would he say he’s going to the studio when he’s out playing house.

“Justin, who are these two?” A new voice joined in. You turn around and face a pretty black woman with Sarah resting on her hip. The woman has a thick blue robe wrapped around her and bright green fuzzy socks on. Her hair is wrapped up in a cloth. She looks young. Maybe even the same age as you.

"This is my girlfriend Y/N.” Justin speaks with a raspy voice, pointing at you. You smile at her and quickly wipe your tears away. “And this is a friend of mine, Kylie”

"Hi.” You speak, reaching to shake the extended hand of the woman.

“My name is Simone.”

“Nice to meet you Simone. I really have to go now, though.” You hurriedly whisper and remove yourself from the situation. It’s too much. You didn’t understand anything but what you did understand was that you had to get out of there as fast as you could.

You did something you are best at. You ran. Down the stairs and to your car.
