I’m sorry but I don’t feel bad for Link. Amelia has made herself clear multiple times, and he still didn’t even begin to halfway understand or accept it until talking to Jo. He’s spent most of their relationship trying to convince Amelia to want the life he wants, even at the expense of her own happiness. He does not understand her on a fundamental or deep level, and really doesn’t attempt to.
Kai, however, has attempted to know and understand her from the very beginning. Amelia even told them that they’re the first person to really try to dig deep to understand who she is at her core, to understand why she’s the way she is and why she loves the things she loves. Kai doesn’t try to coerce her into being someone else. Link likes Amelia for what he thinks she can be, Kai likes her for who she actually is. That’s the difference, and that’s why I don’t feel bad for him.
