Just watched “The Gathering” and I absolutely love the character development shown by EVERYONE involved!

We see Goliath willing to fight for Xanatos because he knows that Oberon trying to take a child from his parents is wrong, even if those parents are your enemy. Xanatos fights with everything he has to protect Fox and Alex, showing more of his good side and winning the approval of his father. Puck finally reveals himself as Owen and puts his life at risk to protect the family he had come to genuinely care for.

One of the best parts of the episode was how everyone, regardless of how they felt toward each other in the past, banded together to protect an innocent child. Renard and Petros, despite their estrangement from their children, stood beside them and did everything they could to protect their grandson. Xanatos used his robots to save Broadway after it was clear that the gargoyles were helping him.

Having a family does change people. Ideally, that change is for the better, and that’s definitely the case for Xanatos and Fox. Man, I love this show!!!

I got back into binging Gargoyles and got to the “Cloud Fathers” episode, and… Oof.

I totally forgot that Elisa’s grandfather was dead, and that her urging her father to visit him was to visit his grave. That moment at the end, when Elisa’s dad acknowledged that he wasted the years he and his father could have spent being in each other’s lives was a gutpunch. I understand cutting ties with family when they have become toxic, but there are times when stubbornness and anger can ruin a relationship that could have flourished if one side was willing to give. Life is short. Don’t take the good people in your lives for granted.
