A 2015 illo for @slate about the book “These United States: An Nation in the Making, 1890 to the Present” which highlights our country’s problem in dealing with foundational issues that become cyclical patterns. I only read the synopsis I was given - but I can’t stop thinking about it listening to the Jackson hearings and that I need to pick it up. She’s performing a valuable history and civics lesson thus far, sometimes in answering some of the stupidest questions fathomable. It gives me hope for the republic that there’s a way through this dangerously stupid part of our national cycle. #ketanjibrownjackson
