who told you the story about the man who didn’t find the gold mine

“Could I borrow some clothes, please” Hudson has been wandering around town naked asking for help. He’s been at it for a while already, but it’s like everyone passing by was ignoring him.

“Son, what’s a big guy like you doing out here in the open with nothing on?” The merchant snickered. He’s the first person to acknowledge Hudson’s presence.

“The innkeeper kicked me out like this! My clothes and all my stuff are still in the inn, and I just need someone to go in there and get them for me.”

“The innkeeper? He’s such a kind fellow, why’d he do that for?”

“Well… err” Hudson blushed. “I was screwing with this girl in the inn… but I didn’t know she was the innkeeper’s wife! I swear, it was an honest mistake!”

“Oh, I’m sorry, son, but I can’t help you with that…” The merchant looked at him with pity. “That innkeeper runs this town, and if any of us got on his wrong side, we’d be as good as dead.”

Hudson got on his knees and bowed his head to the merchant. “Please, I beg of you. I’ll do anything, even for just that hat you’re wearing! I can’t stay naked like this!”

“I’m sorry, son. I really can’t do anything for you.” The merchant put his hand on Hudson’s shoulder. “Everything you left in that inn is as good as gone. It’s best if you just take to the next town and find help there.”

Defeated, Hudson got up and left. He had to hurry if he wanted to get to the next town before nightfall.
