Writers who claimed, please expect an email from me no later than may 23 with the discord invitation! Discord is required to participate in the event and receive important information. You must enter the server within 3 days, or you will be removed from the event.

It’s important that you read the following information carefully before proceeding!
Remind me, what is a bang?
Abang is a type of fan challenge in which writers and artists work together to produce new collaborative content for the fandom.
In a reverse bang, the artist signs up first and creates a sketch, and the writer claims the person they want to write for based on the sketch and summary the artists provide.
This year the theme is alternate universe or universe alteration (canon divergence). It is completely optional!
Who can join?
The event is open to writers of all abilities in any stage of their fandom journey – a fun opportunity for Kaishin shippers to come together and celebrate the relationship between Kudou Shinichi and Kuroba Kaito in all its variations.
What are the requirements?
Writers must create a brand new fic of a minimum of 3,000 words.
There is no maximum but all works should be finished and polished by the final deadline (schedule here).
What is the claim process like?
See the instructions posted yesterday.
Writers must first sign up using the link below; once the sign-up is submitted writers will follow the link in the form to the claims page to claim their artists.
Claims are first-come, first-served; it’s recommended to have the wip document open so you can view your options.
Artist-writer partnerships will be announced / confirmed no later than MAY 23.

Writer Sign-ups and Claims are Opening Tomorrow!
This is a post to walk you through the process of signing up and claiming, because it can be a bit hectic!
The process
- First, writers should have already viewed the wip document, which contains the sketches and summaries of the artists. It is recommended that writers keep this document open during sign-ups for easy reference.
- Second, writers will fill out the writer sign-up form when it opens. All writers must have discord to participate. You should know your full discord tag including the numbers.
- The link to the claiming document will appear after the form is submitted. This link is absolutely VITAL in order to claim an artist. Please make sure to follow this link before you exit the form. If you miss this link, you may email or send an ask off anon, but be aware that potential timezone differences may delay your ability to claim an artist.
- Third, you must use the link that appears in the form after submission in order to claim an artist. It is a good idea to have already perused the WIP document beforehand and to keep the pair numbers you like in mind. This part of the process goes fast. If you are picky about what you want to write, it’s a good idea to sign up right away so you have the best chance to get your preferred project.
Extra info
- If you do something on accident in the claiming document, such as deleting another person’s claim or deleting my text, please alert me immediately so that i may fix it. These mistakes are time-sensitive.
- If you sign up and find that all of the artists you wanted are taken, please don’t worry. I will email all writers who did not claim any artists after sign-ups close and give you some options moving forward.
- Finally, signed-up writers will receive an email from me with a link to join the discord after writer sign-ups close. You must join within three days.

Kaishinbigbang 2022 Artist WIP Doc Revealed!
Hello there friends! Writer sign-ups open this Saturday, May 14! This means it’s time to reveal what the artists have been working so hard on these past few weeks!
If you are a writer and interested in collaborating with an artist to create something new for the Kaishin fandom, this event is for you!
Important info
- Writer sign-ups begin MAY 14 and go until MAY 19 or until all artists are claimed, whichever comes first. Writers should have looked over this document prior to signing up as the claiming process goes quick!
- Writers must write a minimum of 3,000 words
- More information can be found on the faq page, and the schedule is here.
An overview of the process
- Writers will have five days to peruse the WIP doc to see if someone’s art or summary catches your eye! Please use the link below to check out our 37 amazing artists.
- Interested writers will sign up when the form opens at midnight EDT on MAY 14. At the end of the form there will be a link to the claiming document. Claiming will be first-come, first-served. It is a good idea to have several artists in mind when you go to the claiming document!
- A more in-depth explanation will be posted the day before sign-ups open, so keep an eye out!

Schedule change!
Writer sign-ups will now start midnight EDT MAY 14 and end at 23:59 EDT on MAY 19 or when the last artist has been claimed, whichever comes first.
Pair confirmation will now be on MAY 23.
I apologize for the inconvenience and the annoying gap between the end of writer sign-ups and pair confirmation, but unfortunately something has come up and I have to be halfway across the country that weekend. I am the only mod, so I was forced to make this change.

Artist sign-ups open tomorrow!!
Here are some important links for you to check out while you wait for the sign-up link to drop!
The artist sign-up post will include a link to a google form. Artists should fill this form out (it should take no more than a few minutes). At the end of the form, after you hit submit, there will be a link to the Discord server. All participants must join in order to participate, so make sure you don’t miss it!
Forms for this event are set to automatically send a response to your email. Be sure that you receive a response! Sometimes google forms don’t record responses.

Kaishinbigbang 2022 Theme Announcement is here!
Hey everyone! The time to get your votes in has come and gone! It’s time to announce the results!
The theme is: Alternate Universe / Universe Alteration (any)!
Out of 88 responses, 24% of you voted for AU/UA and 34% of you voted for an open AU/UA theme.
For those of you who might not know what AU or UA are or the difference between them:
- AU stands for alternate universe. These fanworks which change at least one element of the source’s canon according to Fanlore. Think coffee shop, soulmate, bodyguard, etc etc.
- UA stands for universe alteration. Most people liken this to canon divergence! Think things like fix-its, characters being aged up or down, different first meetings, etc etc.
As always, the theme is optional, so you can choose to run with it or totally discard it! Whatever you decide, it’ll definitely be interesting!
Next up? Artist sign-ups open APRIL 17! More information will follow soon, so please keep your eyes peeled!

KSBB22 Interest Check Results!
Hello everyone!
Before we get into it, I just wanna say a quick thank you to everyone who took the KSBB22 interest check! We had 60 responses!
With 95% of responders saying their interest level was 3, 4, or 5 out of 5, this event has been greenlit to run for its 4th iteration!
Among responders, 55% said they wanted to write, 51% said they wanted to create art of some kind, and 23% said they wanted to be pinch-hitters.
As for the word count for this event, 3k and 5k were very close but 3k edges out with 48% of responders preferring the lowest word count.
And finally, only 1% of responders said no to a theme, so there will be an optional theme this year! Thank you to those who submitted theme ideas in the interest check. Theme voting will occur between APRIL 3 and APRIL 9, with the announcement coming on APRIL 10. Please keep an eye out for the vote link, coming out in the next hour or so!
Questions from the survey are below the cut:
Q1. if there are more of writers or artists will those people be paired with a pinch hitter?
A1. Yep, that’s exactly it. There will be a few options to choose from for writers are unable to claim an artist for whatever reason: dropping out entirely, becoming a priority pinch-hitter, or continuing as a solo writer until paired with a pinch-hit artist.
Q2. Where can I find the link to the Discord?
A2. The server is only open to those who are actively participating in an event or have previously participated in an event. During the bang period, the invite link is either sent out by email or appears at the end of the completed sign-up form.
Q3. On average; how many pieces are created by a single individual?
A3. It really depends on what you mean by pieces. Minimum requirements can be found in the faq. Going beyond the minimum is not something everyone chooses to do, but some people do. It comes down to each person and what they have time for.
Q4. Hi! I would like to know how the bang works. Is it like a relay race where an artist makes a sketch that might catch a writers intrest and that the artist then finishes and hands over to the writer to write from? Or is it more like a team exercise where you build something up together with the concept the artist had in mind. That they then constantly shuffle ideas together until they finnish? Or a combination of both more or less? Thanks♡
A4. Please check the faq page. You can find an explanation there. In short it is not a relay or a race but a collaboration between an artist and a writer on a single project.
Q5. Can you join the bigbang, even if you personally don’t ship Kaishin?
A5. This event (and the server as a whole) is focused on the relationship between Shinichi and Kaito, so it may not be your cup of tea if you don’t ship them. Whether you join is for you to decide!
Q6. Mostly how to join the discord server and how to pair with an artist, this is my first year looking into joining the Kaishin Big Bang, and I loved a lot of fics and art from the previous one. Knowing where to start would help solidify if I want to join or not, thanks.
A6. The discord bit has already been answered above (and is also in the faq). As far as how to pair with an artist, writers will be able to view artist sketches and summaries for a period of time before sign-up. The claiming process is currently being decided, so I am unable to fully answer the rest of your question yet.
Q7. how far into detective conan should we be at to be able to participate?
A7. There are no such requirements to join any dcmkkaishinevent event!

Hello all!
My name is Mac, and I’m the admin of the 2022 Kaishin Big Bang event!
This year’s event is the fourth (!!) round of the Kaishin Big Bang. It is a reverse-style bang in which artists sign up first, and it is focused on the relationship between Kudou Shinichi and Kuroba Kaito in all its varying forms.
I am putting out this survey to help determine the direction of this year’s bang. Among the questions, there are inquiries about opinions on writer requirements and whether or not there will be an optional theme this year, as well as a section for potential theme suggestions.
You can find some more information about the event on the faq page. The schedule is also up for perusal.
The survey will be accepting responses from MARCH 27 to APRIL 2.
