I hadn’t visited these falls for close to 10 years, but went back today to run a roll through my medium format camera. I’ll be honest and say it’s disappointing to see how much of an impact all the foot traffic has had on this area. It used to be completely covered in moss and thriving ferns of various species. Now it’s a dark, bare shell of its former glory. Maybe it’s time the Wellington Park Management Trust step in and formalise a trail and viewing platform like the nearby Myrtle Gully falls? “Not So Secret” falls - kunanyi / Mt. Excitement levels were high when I picked up this roll of film from the lab yesterday. That quickly turned to disappointment as I discovered all the photos were massively underexposed. I’m not sure what went wrong. This frame took a lot of work in Lightroom to get to this level. Maybe a light meter is a worthwhile investment over an iPhone app? Maybe the app doesn’t handle low light well? Maybe it happened during development? Or most likely I just kooked it.

La Niña got kunanyi shrouded in clouds, makes for good photos at least.
ID a selection of wildflowers and alpine scenes full of water amd grey skies. The flowers seem to glow under the dark skies in pinks, oranges whites and cream colours.
This path I’m on, I don’t know where it goes.
The friends I meet and the family I make all are a part of that journey and to honour them is to keep moving forward with their gifts held close to my heart.
Ready to share with those who need them at a moments notice.
Not everyone will keep walking with me, and that’s ok.
The ancestors have a journey in mind for everyone, with lessons, love, pain and experience scattered along it.
