Imagine Leo being jealous of all the support Hyuk got when he started singing. Hyuk always got help. Hyuk got Ken’s guidance and he was the first to get a vocal coach. Leo was always jealous that he was able to get that support because Hyuk was young/inexperienced and Leo was older and didn’t know how to reach out for help because he was–well better. He’d be jealous of Hyuk having it so easy because he wouldn’t hesitate to make a request. As jealous as Leo was of that, it’s why he respects him.

Imagine Sanghyuk and Taekwoon as P101 trainees.

They’ve known each other for a long time because they’re from the same agency but Sanghyuk never wanted to approach the latter because he was one of the longest trainees and was very strict to the juniors, including Sanghyuk who only joined the agency for less than half a year before being pushed to represent the agency in the show.

Because of his experience, Taekwoon became Sanghyuk’s indirect mentor, giving him comments from the perspective of a peer and even providing him emotional support, as Sanghyuk couldn’t withstand the stress as a new trainee who already had to face the media in such a short amount of time. The boy improved very fast and ended up being ranked in the top 5 during the finals, while Taekwoon was only a few rankings behind the final group lineup. Sanghyuk cried and couldn’t say a word, but Taekwoon ruffled through the younger boy’s hair and smiled at him for the first time. “You must be happy that you got in, and I’m happy for you too,” were the words that made Sanghyuk’s sobs even heavier, as he felt more guilt for making it when someone who trained for a much longer period like Taekwoon didn’t.

Sanghyuk tried to get himself accustomed to his new life as a promoting artist, but was faced with even more pressure. He had to fake skinship and intimacy with members that he didn’t like, and he would speak even less than he had as a P101 trainee because one single mistake in his sentence would mean another hour-long session of scolding by his manager.

Their third release was nearing, and Sanghyuk was more than excited because he was a step closer to returning to his original agency and meeting his favourite hyung again. But just days before shooting their music video, there were news about an explosion in his first agency’s dance studio and that trainees, including Taekwoon, were practising at that time. No further reports were made regarding his safety (especially losing contact after his phone was confiscated) which made Sanghyuk even more anxious, but he still tried his best to not let his emotions overwhelm him.

During their comeback fanmeeting, the members were startled by the fans cheering all of a sudden, but Sanghyuk kept himself occupied with the golden time to interact with each of his fans. His head didn’t jolt up until the first member far from his left screamed “Taekwoon hyung!” followed by even more screaming from across the hall. He had been doing a great job trying to endure his tears from falling in front of cameras for the past eight months, but he couldn’t hold them in anymore as he sees Taekwoon, healthy and smiling brightly, kneeling down in front of him to get his signature, just like the other teenaged girls in the room. 

Four releases and the group disbanded. Sanghyuk dashed straight back to his old agency only to find out that Taekwoon had left only weeks after the explosion. He then found out that the latter not only left, but he did because the explosion crought him permanent deafness, entirely crushing his dream to be a singer. And that’s how Sanghyuk spent the rest of his life looking for the man who made him who he was.

Little did he know that the sticky note in Taekwoon’s album that he signed were the last words he would ever hear from him:
