freezerburn is great because first you get reeled in by the “opposites attract”, fire and ice, all very good, yes yes. but then, oh, underneath it all they have much more in common than you first thought. it’s like a bait and switch but it’s not really a bait since the opposites are still there it’s just. so good.
yang’s gentle teasing, the winks and tongue bleps. weiss pouting in response or giving a deadpan “ha ha”. weiss trying out puns because yang makes them—something that made it to chibi as well? the unconditional support, the gentleness of it all?? impeccable. AND THE HEIGHT DIFFERENCE like NO i have NOT recovered from the V5 hug and weiss’ legs dangling off the ground. i don’t think i ever will, tbh.
but also, the bickering? over trivial things?? that show they’re very comfortable with each other because it never goes any further than that. which gets infinitely funnier because they both have a temper and even during V1 commentary miles and kerry are like “volume 1 should be called ‘weiss has problems with everybody on the team, except yang, yet’” and “’yet’ being the keyword there"—YET volume 8 has been done and dusted and there have been no problems in sight.
