who wants to hear my head canon for how percy proposed
just kidding we all knew i was going to post the headcanon whether or not any of you responded to this so i just won’t give you time to:
he has a beautiful ring he got, it’s pearl, not diamond, and he picked the pearl himself. he has a plan. a wonderful dinner, a heartfelt speech, and he keeps the ring tucked away in his nightstand draw as the day approaches. like two days before the big date is planned, he wakes up around the same time as annabeth. it’s like midweek or something and he doesn’t want to get out of bed and go to work.
beside him annabeth stretches. her curls are a mess, falling out of a bun, she has smudged make up because she didn’t get it all of the night before because she was lazy, she’s in one of his shirts and it’s slipping off her shoulder. she looks as sleep rumbled as possible. she rolls to her side and says that they should call in sick and just do nothing for the day, exactly the thoughts in percy’s head at that moment.
“marry me” slips from his mouth before he can stop.
“okay” annabeth says, thinking it’s a throwaway comment
then percy rolls over, pulls the ring out of the nightstand draw and slips it into her hands.
“oh”
they end up calling in sick and don’t leave bed for a very long time.
