A little birthday drabble for our favourite smiley boy, Lee Jeno.
Masterlist

“Hey, um, where did we put the balloons again?”

Renjun sighed. “That’s the third time you’ve asked me in the span of five minutes, Jisung.”

“I know, I’m sorry,” the younger boy said quickly, raising his hands in surrender. “It’s just that Donghyuck keeps moving them and I don’t know where they are.”

“Tell him to stop moving them then. Wait, I’ll tell him myself actually.”

There was a pause before the shouting began.

“Lee Donghyuck, stop moving the fucking balloons!”

“I didn’t fucking touch them!”

“That’s not what Jisung said!”

“Jisung’s a fat liar then!”

“Hey,” interrupted Jaemin. “Stop being mean to the baby.”

Jisung frowned. “I’m literally two years younger, hello?”

“You’re still a baby,” said Chenle, who was scrolling through his phone on the couch, a pair of sunglasses resting atop his head.

“It’s not like you’re any better,” Jisung grumbled.

“Aren’t you supposed to be helping?” questioned Renjun with a raised eyebrow.

Chenle shrugged. “I already got the cake. My job’s done.”

“Where is it?”

“In the fridge.”

“Mark? Do you see the cake?”

“I don’t see it,” shouted the oldest boy from the kitchen. “Are you sure it’s here?”

“It should be more towards the back. Jeno knows the layout of the fridge too well, so I had to hide it,” Chenle explained.

“I still can’t-oh, never mind, found it.”

“Mark, where are the balloons?” asked Donghyuck.

“Uh, I don’t know. I thought you were in charge of them” he replied, peeking his head through the doorway to look into the living room, a confused expression on his face.

“Does anyone know where the balloons are?” said Jaemin. “Actually, did we even buy them?”

Everyone went silent as they looked at each other. Renjun was the first to point a finger.

“See? I fucking told you that we were missing something!”

“You said you got them!” shouted Donghyuck. “I asked you in the store and you pointed to the cart!”

“It was never my job to get them in the first place! I was in charge of getting the snacks, not the decorations.”

“Okay, so who was responsible for them, huh?”

“Actually,” Jaemin said quietly. “I don’t even know if I put them on the list.”

Chaos exploded. Donghyuck and Renjun began yelling simultaneously at Jaemin, who cowered in fear as the older boys descended upon him. Mark ran over from the kitchen to calm the two down, his voice drowned out by the shouting. Jisung was watching with wide eyes and his hands covering his ears, while Chenle was dying of laughter on the couch, his hands shaking as he tried to record everything. At one point, the argument shifted to just Donghyuck and Renjun, who began blaming each other for not remembering the most basic of birthday decorations. Jaemin, the poor boy, had retreated to the kitchen to make himself a cup of coffee, leaving Mark to deal with the fight. All the while, neither of them had noticed a very confused Jeno walking into the dorm.

“Why is there a pack of balloons on the stairs?” he asked Jaemin, who’d been startled by his sudden appearance. The younger boy gaped at the bag before his eyes flickered over to the chaos in the living room, Donghyuck and Renjun now having progressed to wrestling on the floor as Chenle’s laughter echoed loudly. He turned back to Jeno with a fearful look, his voice faint.

“Oh god, they’re going to kill me.”
