It had been a stressful few days leading up to Jeno’s birthday - anyone could see it. From the exhausted sighs, to the constant staring out of the window whenever there was even a semblance of a break, Jeno needed to take a step away from it all. And as y/n listened to him talk about his day, that was exactly what they had planned to do. The birthday preparations had been finished - with some help from Jisung - and y/n was going to do all in their power to get Jeno relaxed and smiling again.

“what are you doing?”
“nothing?” your voice lilts at the end, making it seem more like a question.
jeno laughs softly. “then why are you attacking me with hugs?”
pursing your lips, it’s very clear that you just got caught. so, you decide to go big or go home, as they say. “because you look too cute for me to pass up on this opportunity.”
swooping in, you plant a peck on his cheek before pulling away. his smile soon widens and his eyes disappear into beaming crescents. he ruffles your hair with a free arm before pulling you closer.
“now you got me flustered.”
scrunching your nose up, a grin sweeps across your features. “then i guess my courage was worth it.”
shaking his head at you, he wraps an arm around your waist. swaying lightly to the melody playing in the background from the speakers, you find an euphonious solace.
he huffs out a breath before he asks, “this time, why don’t we be bolder?”
“how?”
“a kiss on the lips?”
in return, your cheeks are stained with a vibrant cherry red undertone. you had not expected him to ask that.
his face peers at you, eyes focused on you and only you. in room of about 100 people, his eyes have never left you.
you have to admit, he knows you too well.
well enough to make you frazzled. but overwhelmingly enough to grant you what you’ve been waiting for.
a kiss on the lips from the only boy who you won’t ever stop falling for.
