Holy. Jumpin. Jeezus. Christ. This is amazing. 

This print of the funerary procession of Alderman Kirkman shows the gentlemen of the London Association out in full force. Uniforms appear standard for the period. Infantry wear hats, coats and cross belts. Officers of both the line and the light infantry carry fusils and wear pouches. All wear what appear to be pantaloons and spatterdashes (even the members of the horse, apparently). It is possible the artist meant to represent breeches, but the lack of a clear line dividing breeches and stockings makes me favor the pantaloons. Pantaloons, certainly, would match with later depictions of the volunteer associations, as portrayed by the satirists Cruikshank, Rowlandson, &c. All ranks wear their hair clubbed.

Interesting details include the light infantry and horsemen’s caps. The former feature some rather elaborate plumage, while the latter appear to be in the fur-crested Tarleton style, with a peak and (bearskin?) crest. 

Regardless, this is the most exciting thing that has happened to me today.
