The Nest (1980). In a small Spanish town, an eccentric widower is captivated by an impish 13-year-old girl.

I’m really still organising my thoughts on this one, which makes it hard to review, but it’s an interesting film. It’s more or less an adaptation of Lolita, although it at least doesn’t have Hector act on his infatuation with the girl he names Goyita. The performances and cinematography are really what made this for me, and there are a few scenes that I think will stay with me for a long time, particularly the scene where Goyita’s dad only pretends to beat her instead of actually hitting her. Still, I really, really wish we could stop making movies about grown men becoming enamoured with 13-year-old girls. 6.5/10.
