NOW BEGINS
THE FINAL FLASHBACK SEQUENCE

It’s kind of fun, because this is the second time I’ll be drawing this scene, with my first take of it being this comic I drew in…2018, or something?

I think the more I drew the flashback scenes, the more I risked forgetting the way I went about drawing the non-flashback scenes - brush settings and all.

There’s probably…one more flashback after this, and then we move on to the last parts of this whole thing.

Here’s me melding both Copen and Gunvolt’s versions of events together, and we’re almost to the last part of the Gunvolt 2 ending recap section of this comic, and then all that’s left is sending Gunvolt back home and wrapping everything up.

If I look at it that way, then
Well, maybe if I play my cards right the comic could be done this month, but I am not smart enough to plan ahead and use my pages that efficiently. OwO

I actually did not realize that Mytyl’s eye color changed from yellow to red and she also gained Joule’s hair strands during this scene, until like…just last year, I think?

Do they count as details that are subtle enough that people miss them the first time around, or am I actually just not that observant? >__>;;

If there is anything I like in this page, it’s that my idea for “draw Mytyl slowly waking up on top of all of the action panels” ended up looking pretty nice.

When I drew Copen kicking Gunvolt in the face, all I could really think of was Mr. Spinzaku Kururugi of Code Geass fame.

I spent a long, long time trying to figure out how to compose this page and I am now glad that it is complete and finished.

I was actually kind of worried about how this page would look because of the lighting effects I was going to be using for Mytyl and Copen for this moment, but in the end it turned out pretty nicely.

It was mostly concerns over there being too much white, but it feels like it balanced out alright.

…I think it’s kind of interesting to consider that Gunvolt’s first time ever seeing Lola’s muse form is just during this sequence during the true ending. Every other time he encounters Lola, she’s just in her battle pod form.

Heh. Nice. It’s page 69.

I was actually a little worried about this page not being able to come together - I struggled a lot with how to pose Copen in that big, final panel. The pose and position I ended up with I think worked out rather well, though, haha.

I also hope that it’s possible to tell that I’ve got Gunvolt using Astrasphere to attack Copen in that last panel, too. >__>

Ah well, however it goes, haha.

This is me getting tired of just drawing Gunvolt and Copen talking, and now taking advantage of this flashback featuring their big fight at Gunvolt 2′s climax in order to justify drawing the scene out.

I had so much fun with Copen’s expression in the last panel, it’s perfect, it’s beautiful.
It’s full of that kind of despair that breaks a person down into uncollectable pieces. UwU

This wraps up the…first part… of Gunvolt 2′s climax. Next comes the fun (?) part.

God, who knows how much longer I’ll manage to keep using twitter once that grimy Muskrat starts wrecking everything.

Good God I had so much trouble making Gunvolt look…good enough for me in panel 3, today. Redrew that panel - specifically Gunvolt and his pose - almost three or four times today.

But now that fight is over and I’ll have to learn what Reverie Zonda looks like based on the single and only piece of concept art for her in the form of her character art illustration, tomorrow.

My process for most of these pages has been turned into:
1) Come up with lines of dialogue the night before and type them into an ongoing notepad document
2) Hastily draw out some panel layout ideas and see how they work for the parts of dialogue that are going to be in the given page
3) Do the rest

This was one instance where I thought the paneling and distribution of dialogue was a good idea, but didn’t know how to fill the panels with what illustrations.

Then I drew Gunvolt electrocuting Male Zonda’s crotch in panel 1 and suddenly everything else just fell right into place.
