I was on track and then I got THIS ASK which derailed me for a WEEK, but it was one of those GLORIOUS weeks where I could simply not stop writing. This is dedicated to the anon (I know who you are, but IDK if you wanted to be uhhhh exposed like that) and also to @katareyoudrillingand@just-here-for-the-moment who have listened to me scream about this idea all week and gave me some DELICIOUS ideas.
Marcus Pike takes a sip from his latte as his eyes scan the newest case file to cross his desk for what seems like the hundredth time that week.
Fifteen paintings had been stolen from the Takoma Art Gallery–which had seemed like an unusually high number until they were informed that the canvases are all miniatures, each depicting a different hyper-realistic koi painting.
The works are so stunning, that after visiting the gallery earlier that week, Marcus had purchased one for himself. He likes to do that–purchase one work from each gallery the team has to visit in the line of work. It seems like the least he can do, since every gallery he visits has just gone through an expensive and intrusive ordeal–police tape, countless interviews, security camera footage seizures, contractors to fix broken glass, unplanned closings, revenue loss, et cetera.
Not to mention the pain of having something the artist put hours of time and effort into, a little piece of themselves that they’ve pulled out and translated onto a canvas, vanished into thin air. If Marcus can recoup just a fraction of that mental loss by showing his appreciation for their art, he’s happy to do so.

This fic wouldn’t exist without @ezrasbirdie‘sGoing Slow, which is the only other fic I’ve read out there that deals with sexual dysfunction, and I can’t post this without acknowledging that her fic really paved the way and made me want to write about MY experiences, however personal, vulnerable, or “unsexy” they might be. It’s really fun to read (and write) about people with clitorises who can have multiple orgasms in one session, by intercourse alone, or by their partner just touching their clit, like, one time. This is not always the case in real life, a fact that is not well-represented in fic despite being very common. I think we should acknowledge that sex and pleasure can and do look different for everyone and can still be fun and sexy to read about. This is the fic I always wanted to write with Marcus Pike. I mentioned in the tags when I posted a snippet of this fic that the reason I write sooooo many Marcus fics is because I’ve kind of made this man an outlet for my trauma around this exact subject. When you’re too insecure or ashamed to prioritize your pleasure, sex can be fraught, even painful. If you’re reading this fic and think, “Hey, that’s me!” please know that you are NOT alone, it’s TOTALLY normal, and you deserve a partner who encourages and prioritizes your pleasure.

You checked the time again as you sent the text to Marcus. Today was the day of the FBI’s annual company picnic, and now that you and Marcus were “official,” you were supposed to be arriving together.
The gossip at work had finally quieted down after a month or so of your relationship being out in the open, but the peace was still a little tenuous. You weren’t stupid, you knew there were still whispers about the head of the Art Crimes Department dating an Archives intern nearly twenty years his junior. Some people were alwaysgoing to look sidelong at the two of you, but Marcus had made it clear from the beginning that you were off limits.
Still, it was quite the scandal–and you knew that part of today was going to be about making a statement, staking your claim that the two of you were together and that your relationship was real and serious.
Unfortunately, Marcus had been called in to question a suspect on the morning of the picnic, which meant you couldn’t arrive together like you had planned.
