Caturday is here again, and these sleeping beauties are 77 years old, and drawn by Jean Charlot (1898-1977) for Margaret Wise Brown’s delightful A Child’s Good Night Book, published in 1943 and in our special collections now. Brown was prolific as a children’s book writer (Goodnight Moon, a perennial favorite) and Charlot was a great artist who, in his 20s, worked in Mexico City with Diego Rivera and José Clemente Orozco painting frescoes for the Mexican government…
