“25th March. Monday.
In the morning went with Papa to Petersburg. Were at obednya in Anichkov with Grandmama. Had breakfast with Grandmama, A[unt] Olga and Irina with [her] brothers. Drank tea, played and had dinner at A[unt] Olga’s, B. Ungernsternberg, Shvedov, Yuzik, Skvortsev, Zborovsky, Zarnugayu (?), Shangin, Kulikovsky, Felix (?), Irina with 2 brothers, Sasha with her Mother, Kolya, Nadia and U[ncle] Petya were there. Went back [home].”

“Monday. 25 March. At 10. 25 we 3 and Papa went to Petersburg. Maria and Nastasia went to Grandmama’s at Anichkov for obednya. Papa and I went to see the Cavalry regiment parade. It was very beautiful. Saw N.P. and B.B. From there went to Grandmama’s for breakfast with Aunt Olga. Aunt Ksenia and her daughter were there. At 2 o'cl. 15 min went with Aunt Olga to her [house]. At about 3 o'cl. AKSHV, Yuzik, Skvortsov and V.E. Zborovsky arrived there. We all sat together for a long time, and it was awkward at first. Had tea in the sitting room on the little balcony. I sat on the sofa between AKSHV and Skvortsov. Then T. of Leuchtenberg, Sasha, Kolya, Irina, Andrusha, Fedor, Shangin, Nikolasha, Kulikovsky and later Tsengern-Shternbeerg arrived. Played turkey and rope for a long while in the spare dining room. It was such fun. At dinner I sat with Tsengern and again with dear sweet AKSHV. He wore a light grey cherkesska and a black beshmet as usual. He was awfully sweet, talkative and cheerful. After that we went to the Aunt’s study, sat there and talked and laughed. At 8 o'cl. 15 min. [we] left with Nastenka. It was so nice. Papa went to a concert [performed] by invalids. Mama was lying down and Anya was there with her. Mama is not feeling well, her heart is enlarged.”

“17th March. Sunday.
In the morning were at obednya with Papa in the regimental church. Had breakfast with Papa, Ioan, Gavril and Mama on the couch. Went to Petersburg, first to Grandmama and then to A[unt] Olga, Irina, Andrei, Feodor, Sasha and her Mother, B. Ungernsternberg, Shvedov, Skvortsev, Yuzik, Shangin and Kulikovsky were there. We played, drank tea, had dinner and went back.”

“Sunday. 17 March. Went to obednya. Otetz Shavelsky performed the service yesterday and today. Had breakfast with Papa, Mama, Ioann and Gavril. At 2 o'cl. 7 min we 4 went to Petersburg to Grandmama’s with them and Lili Obolenskaya. Aunt Olga and Aunt Ksenia were there. Aunt Ksenia is leaving for Paris today. A little after 3 o'clock [we] went to Aunt Olga’s with her. At 3 ½ Tzigern-Shternberg, Gozeko, Skvortsov and AKSHV arrived. Dear, sweet AKSHV, I was so happy to finally see him. Prince Leuchtenberg with Irina, Fedor and Andrusha had tea. We had tea with the same on the little balcony in the sun. It was so cozy. We sat and talked for a long while. Then [we] went to play turkey, rope, and slap-on-hands in the spare dining room. Had dinner at 6 ½. We 3 and Aunt Olga sat with the Cossacks at their table. I also sat with AKSHV at tea. We walked around, sat, talked and laughed until 8 o'cl., it was so nice. Poor darling, he told me that his mother died last year. I am so sad for him. May the Lord save us. Returned at 8 o'clo. 15 min with Olga Yevg[enievna]. In the evening sat with Papa and Mama. Stopped by Tatiana’s [room], she is feeling fine. This afternoon Mama rode in an equipage and felt a bit queasy and tired. Darling Olga took 2 photographs of us three with the Cossacks. Kulikovsky and Shangin were also there.”

“15th June. Monday.
Today was even warmer. At 10 ¼ they started the engines and half an hour later we anchored in a beautiful bay opposite the Tullgarn Palace. At 11 o'clock the king, the queen and the whole family appeared. We went with them to the beach. At the pier there was the guard of honor from the local Südermanland regiment. We drove two steps to the castle in carriages. Checked all rooms. We had breakfast and dinner without suites. Listened to one singer, who sang romances in different languages. Walked with Gustav in an umbrageous park. All the children were called there, they fumbled and played intensly despite the heat. Stayed in my room for only three ¼ hours. At 9 ¼ returned to the yacht, accompanied by the whole family. The cabins were stuffy. We said goodbye to the hospitable hosts of Sweden. Marie and William stayed to chat with us and drink tea. Evening and night were amazing.”

Soon obnoxious people started recognizing us, we couldn’t get into any store, and we came back earlier than we thought. After breakfast, a large bonfire was lit downstairs in the garden and potatoes were baked. Read. Anya had dinner with Alix.”

Woke up to a thick fog. At 10 o'clock went with Olga, Tatiana and Maria on a motor to Ai-Petri. Before reaching the Farm, left the area of fog and further up, the whole day stayed radiant and warm. At Ai-Petri, we met with Yusupov and his guests and went to his deer paddock to the left of the Bakchisaray high road. Mounted horses and rode 4 versts through a beautiful beech forest to a steep cliff, from where there is a striking view of the Kokoz Valley and three hillsides. Returned to the tent and sat down to have breakfast at 1 ¾. The warmth in the mountains and the air were intoxicating. Returned home at 5 o'clock delighted with the day […]”
