I am not going to lie. I kind of cringed when I heard that Fox was doing a Commissioner Gordon from the Batman lore origin series. I know that comics are all cool and stuff now, but is this the step one too far?

Based on some of the stuff that has been released, I would have to say no.

StarringThe OCandSouthland‘sBen McKenzie as James Gordon and brought to you by the same guy who did the quite excellent The Mentalist, the story follows Gordon as he enters the Gotham PD and rises to well..you know here he ends up.

Sure there are going to be the characters we all love, however it seems that they are more window dressing as this is more of a cops and robbers show. It just so happens that the city is Gotham and that the Batman, the Joker, the Penguin and Catwoman are all in the midst of ‘finding themelves’.

There are a bunch of clips below to give you a sense of the show. It doesn’t really spoil the series, just gives us a sense of the pilot when you watch them all together.

Gotham premieres September 22nd on Fox and also stars Donal Logue(Sons of Anarchy,Terriers,Vikings,Copper) and Jada Pinkett Smith(The Matrixfilms,HawthoRNe).
