I wonder if anyone’s ever written about the geology implied by the rocks present in minecraft like. my very layman observations are that absence of ultramafics and medium-low prevalence of intermediates like diorite and andesite implies lower temperatures, overall though there’s still pockets of lava. except that they recently added Deepslate which is hard and very dark and so implies ultramaficity, and it occurs at very low levels which tracks with a mantle. so then you have “stone” which is probably metamorphic but has no foliation or obvious graniation so it can’t be a schist or a gneiss so it’s probably a result of contact metamorphism which makes sense with the number of igneous intrusions except that there’s no volcanism? also you have these huge cave systems which seem in part to be solutional but I guess are probably just lava tubes. but again where’s the large-scale volcanism? I guess there’s just a massive absence of hotspots because. well because there’s actually no mantle. which also explains the lack of real tectonic activity and so the lack of pressure-formed foliated metamorphics. so it’s a relatively cool/cold system overall and pretty flat (no really high tectonic mountains) so maybe it’s just very old.
