LIVE

Okay, lets see…where do I even start?

Check In Day: Basically, we waiting in line for forever, got really sweaty and gross then had our pictures taken. Mine looks horrible, incase you’re wondering. We also found out where we work- I’m in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom! Then we had casting, where we filled out some more papers and got our finger prints taken and blah blah blah. Later that night my roomies and I all went to Walmart to get some groceries and what not.

Day 2: I had a housing meeting, where they basically explained the rules of housing and what no to do unless you want to get termed. Easy enough. Then I went to Downtown Disney with my family and got dinner at Earl of Sandwich, which, by the way, is delicious!

Day 3: I had absolutely nothing to do, so I went to Animal Kingdom with my family because my wonderful Mama bought me a ticket! It was insanely hot. Sweat was pouring off of us. Oh, and I got picked to volunteer twice in one day! Once was at a show at Rafiki’s Planet Watch and I got to help a pig paint a picture, and the second time was at the Flights of Wonder show where a bird stole a dollar from me. But no worries, he gave it back. We left AK around 5, then I went home and made myself some dinner. My roomies and I ended up staying up until around 3:00 in the morning talking and laughing.

And now it’s Day 4: traditions! My first official day of work! Everyone but Stefani has traditions at 2:30 today. I know we get our name tags and our company IDs, but otherwise, we haven’t really been told what’s going to happen.

Things I’ve learned in the past three days…

  • My roomies are amazing
  • Brittany was one of those girls in middle school
  • Two of the burners on our stove don’t work
  • Couponing is addictive
  • Animal Kingdom is the best place ever
  • Military time isn’t too bad
  • I’m going to love it here

We spent the day at Magic Kingdom!

We woke up at 5:00 in the morning. I got maybe 6 hours of sleep, at the most, thanks to my mom snoring. We stopped at Dunkin’ Donuts for breakfast, drove for about two hours, checked in to our hotel, and made our way to the park!

We all got “I’m Celebrating!” buttons and I had a few people notice mine and congratulate me! And I finally got to eat a Dole Whip. It was amazing.

Oh, and I met Brittany, my future roomie! We were walking to Adventure Land and I heard a voice yell my name. I turned around, and there was Brittany! After talking to each other for a year, we finally got to meet, even though it was only a few minutes. We’ll have plenty of time to bond over the next few months while we’re living together.

We left Magic Kingdom around 8 and now we’re back at our room at Pop Century. I’m completely exhausted.

Brittany’s coming to pick me up at 8:00 tomorrow for check in and I’m so excited.

Goodnight :)

Tomorrow I turn 20! Which means in a year I’ll be able to apply for a job with Disney Cruise Lines!

This is something I’ve wanted to do since my first Disney cruise two years ago. I know the rooms are tiny and you don’t get any real days off, but, for me, the pros outweigh the cons. Traveling the world, meeting new people, exploring new places- it’s the opportunity of a lifetime!

I’m packing and I never realized how many shoes I have. I’m taking black flats, black heels, white heels, two pairs of flip flops, gold sandals, tennis shoes, vans, white lacy tom-ish shoes, black lacy tom-ish shoes, comfy sporty flip flops, and I’m debating taking a pair of boots.

I need help.

Yesterday my friend Chesley and I went thrift shopping and I found this amazing dress! It’s yellow with a bow on it and it’s very Belle. So I’m thinking this will be my dress for the CP formal and/or Dapper Day!

In other news, I have approximately a million things to do before I leave:

  • Pack!!!
  • Clean my room at both houses
  • Wash my car
  • Give my horse a bath
  • Clean the inside of my car
  • Clean my saddle and bridle
  • Wash my saddle pad
  • Buy toiletries and such
  • Go out for crabs
  • Celebrate my birthday with my family
  • Hang out/say goodbye to all of my friends
  • Try to calm down…who are we kidding, that won’t happen!

Also, my roommate, Brittany, made reservations at a nice restaurant for her birthday! She and I are so insanely excited to being our new adventure!!!

Andddd now I’m paranoid that we’ll have bed bugs. Just thinking about it makes me itch.

because I accidentally deleted the first one.

I’m obviously pretty horrible at updating, so I’ll try to make up for it…

  • Only 23 days until check in!
  • My mom and sister got their magic bands today!
  • My aunt took me shopping (with my Nana’s money) for things for my apartment and I got a bunch of cool stuff and now I just need things like toiletries and such
  • I’m going to miss my cat a lot
  • The day before check in we’re going to Magic Kingdom and staying at Pop Century
  • My sister really wants to try the tie-dye cheesecake
  • I should probably start packing soon
  • ohmygod 23 days!!!
  • I went to the beach so now I’m kind of tan so maybe I won’t burn in Florida
  • I’m worried about how my hair will react to the humidity
  • My sister sprained her right ankle and broke her left foot
  • My mom is worried that all my stuff won’t fit into her car
  • I’m not looking forward to an 18 hour car ride to Florida
  • ONLY 23 MORE DAYS!

I guess you could say I’m excited.

I will miss my horse and my cat though.

I’m getting more excited every day!

I bought my tickets for Villains Unleashed and so did four of my future roomies. Every since I started watching Once Upon A Time I’ve been in love with villains, so I can’t wait to meet them!

We’ve made our reservations for the hotel the night before check in. Originally we were going to stay in All Star Movies, but now we’re staying in Pop Century! We’ll be headed down August 2nd, stopping somewhere to sleep that night, then driving the rest of the way and going to one of the parks on the 3rd. Then the next day is check in! I hate long car rides, so that might kill me, but it’ll be worth it.

I still have so much stuff to get, but hopefully I’ll be able to go shopping soon.

As for my horse- it looks like he’ll have a five month vacation while I’m away. Someone wanted to use him for beginner lessons, but I’m worried he would pick up bad habits and get dead sided or hard mouthed. So I told my dad he has to go up to brush him at least once a month while I’m gone.

Have I mentioned that I can’t wait?! Leaving behind my horse, my cat, my friends, and my family will be really hard, but I think it’ll be worth it. I’m getting an amazing opportunity- I can go to the parks whenever I want for free, I’ll be there for Halloween and Christmas, it’s a great name for my resume, I’ll make a ton of new friends, and I’m sure I’ll learn a lot!

P.S. I’ve never stepped foot in Pop Century, so if anyone has any suggestions or knows what it’s like, let me know! Obligatory question mark?

Update time!

Yesterday I made a magical moment for a little princess and her family. Her mom came up to me while I was at the outside register at Pooh’s and asked if I had any glue because her daughter’s tiara broke. I only had tape, and it didn’t look very good, so I asked her to wait around for a few minutes and I would see if I could make some magic. I called my coordinator and explained the situation and within a few minutes, she brought over a new crown from one of our stores! Our little princess was so excited, she gave us all hugs and her mom couldn’t stop thanking us.

Pooh’s is my least favorite area to work in, but it’s still so much fun. Usually when I’m merchantaining I get to play with bubble guns and some kids get so excited about it! It’s precious. Then sometimes their parents buy a bubble gun for them and we have a bubble war!

I’m absolutely loving my Enviornmentality and Sustainability class. We’re learning so much about what Disney does to help save the environment and recycle. Did you know that Disney matches every dollar donated? And one third of their land, in addition to the Animal Kingdom, has been set aside as a wildlife preserve. We also get to go one some really fun field trips and talk to some awesome guest speakers. Two weeks ago, we went to Animal Kingdom for a scavenger hunt and then a special extra long safari! This week we’re going behind the scenes at The Land at Epcot, and last week the person in charge of recycling at Magic Kingdom came in to speak to us.

Tomorrow three of my roomies and I are staying at the Grand Floridian for a night. We got a club level room and it’s going to be absolutely beautiful. Then on the 23rd, we’re going to another Halloween party! Shout out to Grammy for making me an amazing costume! I can’t wait to wear it again.

On Thursday Stefani and I had a roomie day, which I’ll make a separate post about. We went to Typhoon Lagoon, the Poly, Fort Wilderness, and then ate dinner at Tony’s!

Of course I’m missing my friends, family, and pets, but so far the homesickness isn’t too bad.

Also, I apologize to my friends and family at home that I haven’t been able to talk to much. I usually get home from work around 1 or 2 in the morning, and when I’m not working, I’m sleeping, playing in the parks, or doing chores around our apartment. Plus, we get horrible cell service in our apartment so I can’t talk on the phone while I’m cooking or cleaning or  in the apartment in general without saying “can you hear me now?” every ten seconds.

More updates and pictures coming soon!

We had our first inspections and we passed! We didn’t get the white glove award, which is for if your apartment is absolutely perfect, but we got cookies for passing.

Good job, apartment 1308.

I made a magical moment for two precious little princesses yesterday.

I was working at Bonjour, which is the shop near Gaston’s Tavern, and two adorable little girls came in. I started talking to them and they told me how much they loved my pins. I asked each of them which their favorite one was and then asked if they would like to have their favorites. They were so excited and their mom couldn’t believe I was giving them my pins! It was so precious, one of the girls was jumping up and down because she was so happy. Then they told me they were going to Enchanted Tales With Belle next and I told them how fun it was.

They each gave me a hug before they left. It’s little moments like this that remind me how amazing my job is.

We got to dance with a bunch of of the villains at Club Evil, I was The Beast in Enchanted Tales With Belle, we listened the the Cadaver Dans sing, met some Bimbettes, and took a thousand pictures! Everyone absolutely loved my costume and all night I heard little girls saying to their moms “Is that her? Is that the real Belle?!”. It was so so so cute.

We’re probably going to another one because we had such a great time.

But for now…a quick review

  • My dad and stepmom visited me and bought me meals which made me and my stomach super happy
  • The Halloween party was incredibly fun
  • Stefani is teaching me how to salsa dance
  • I’ve had a lot of stock shifts lately
  • I miss my horse, my cat, my dogs, and my family
  • I have a cold, which is unfortunate
  • My roomies are the best
  • Disney is wonderful

Tomorrow I start my Environmentality and Sustainability class and I’m so excited! I’ll post more about the Halloween Party soon!

My roomies and I had the best day yesterday! Stefani, Brittany, and I got up early and went to EpcotMy roomies and I had the best day yesterday! My roomies and I had the best day yesterday!

Stefani, Brittany, and I got up early and went to Epcot for park opening. We were going to go straight to Soarin’, but we decided to stop by and say hi to Mickey, Goofy, and Minnie. The character attendant told Mickey we were cast members and we asked him if we could get a raise…he laughed at us, so I guess that’s a no. Then Goofy danced with all of us and was so fun! Minnie was super cute and taught us all how to pose.

So then we went over to Soarin’ and we only had to wait about five minutes, which is incredible! Plus, we got to sit in the front row!

We headed over to The Seas and we were there for at least two hours. We did everything- rode Nemo, Turtle Talk, and saw all of the exhibits. They have two manatees there- Lil’ Joe and Lou. Lil’ Joe is actually the bigger one, and Lou is missing his tail from a boating accident. Both of them are rescues.

While we were watching the stingrays, the best thing happened! They were working on training and teaching them to swim up a ramp they built underwater and some of them were being so funny. So Stefani and I started doing voices for them. So like one of them wash’t really sure what to do so she was saying “I’ll just go this way…no, no, I’ll go this way…you know what, I’m just not doing it” and another one was just sitting waiting for food and didn’t move and she was like “okay. I’m here. Feed me. Continue with the food”. And a woman standing next to us told us that we were so funny. Turns out, she’s the head animal trainer there! She was talking to us about all the animals and their names and personalities and told us we should do a professional internship. Then she offered to give us a little backstage tour! Of course we said yes. It was amazing and so fun!

Fun fact: all of the stingrays are girls. The biggest one is named Luna, and she doesn’t realize how big she is. Most of the others leave her alone because of her size, but she doesn’t mess with them and if one tried to mess with her, she would probably swim away. Then there’s a little one named Chica, who is so sassy! When they first started training her she would just sit right on top of their heads.

After we were done exploring The Seas, we randomly decided to see if we could get reservations at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, which is character dining with the princesses. Somehow we got lucky and there was a spot open! It’s a really popular restaurant, so I’m not sure how we got in. We got to meet Belle, Ariel, Cinderella, Snow White, and Aurora. Plus, the food was delicious and all of our tummies were so happy.

We walked around the World Showcase then went over to Innoventions where we did Sum of All Thrills, Habit Heroes, and basically everything else in there.

We stayed until an hour before park closing and all agreed that it was the most amazing day.

Now Stefani just got a call asking if she would like the day off work because they were overstaffed today, so she’s super excited. The rest of today will consist of laundry, grocery shopping, and relaxing.

oops.

Blogging is hard.

Okay, lets see…

I’m still loving my job, especially the little kids and the pixie dusting. The worst part is when someone doesn’t speak english and I can’t communicate with them.

I think I’m going to get new shoes because my work shoes are falling apart already. Goodbye $40. Maybe I’ll start using them for stock shifts, and get new shoes for my register shifts.

I’ve had two shifts in Bonjour, which is the shop where everything is Beauty and The Beast and I love it! I’m probably going to buy everything in there when our holiday discount starts.

Tomorrow I’m going to Epcot with my roomies!

I also desperately need to do laundry and go grocery shopping.

Villains Unleashed!

Brittany, Cassidy, Stefani, and I all went to Villains Unleashed together and we all disneybounded! Brittany and I both channeled Mr. Smee from Peter Pan, while Cassidy was Peter Pan’s shadow, and Stefani was Mother Gothel.

We got to Hollywood Studios about an hour before the event actually started. We had to take a ridiculous detour to get there that we weren’t told about, but we did get there eventually. We took a few pictures then jumped on Rockin Rollercoaster since the wait time was so short. Then we walked over to the stage, renamed Hade’s Hangout for the night, and waited for the show to start.

It was insanely crowded and I’ve heard that they over sold tickets. In the opening show they introduced Hades, who with the help of Meg and his minions, Pain and Panic, had taken over Hollywood Studios for the night. Then they introduced all 50 villains including the Big Bad Wolf, Frollo, Shan Yu, Maleficent, and 14 Star Wars villains. After the opening show was over, we rushed to meet Maleficent, but her line was already three hours long by the time we got there, so we opted not to wait for her.

Cassidy and I went to take pictures with Gantu, from Lilo and Stitch, and we had to wait an hour. It was crazy, and it didn’t help that people kept cutting in line. Meanwhile, Stefani and Brittany went to go buy t shirts for all of us. There was only one store that had merch specifically for the event and the line looked absolutely nuts. After we met Gantu, Cassidy went to get all of us Maleficent cupcakes while I waited in line to meet the Evil Queen from Snow White.

I was so excited to meet the Evil Queen, my heart was racing! But it turned out to be pretty disappointing. I had seen videos of people meeting her and they had such fun interactions, but she didn’t say much to me. Maybe because it was so crowded and she needed to meet as many people as possible, or maybe she just wasn’t feel talkative.

When I was finished I tried to meet back up with Stef, Cass, and Britt, but I couldn’t stay still! So much was going on and I felt like I was missing out on it if I stayed in one place, so I wandered while they tried to find me. I ended up running into Stromboli from Pinocchio and Gaston from Beauty and The Beast! Gaston was amazing. I mentioned to him that I was single and since we were both so gorgeous, we would make a lovely couple. We’re basically in love.

Stefani ended up finding me while I was meeting Gaston, so we got our little group back together. We walked around a bit and went to “Oogie Boogie’s Freaky Funhouse Show” which was…freaky. I mean, really freaky. We left a few minutes before it was over because none of us were really enjoying it, and went on Tower of Terror. There was practically no wait time, so we walked right on!

Then we watched the fireworks from Sunset Blvd. It wasn’t the best view, but there was no way we wanted to fight the crowd.

Was it worth $72? Maybe not. But would I go again? Probably. It’s only the second time Disney has done something like this, and it seems like they underestimate how popular villains are. From what I’ve heard, this one was ten times better than the last time, which means the next time will be ten times better than this time. Hopefully Disney will realize how loved villains are and make some sort of permanent event or show or area for them!

Update time! Where did I last leave off…

I’ve officially earned my ears! I know how to “merchantain”, do register, stock, and sew the ears. I haven’t had a stock shift since my stock training and I don’t have one for at least a week, so I’m a little worried I’ll forget everything. Sewing ears isn’t too difficult, and I love doing the merchantainment! Get it? It’s merchandise + entertainment. So clever. If I’m merchantaining in Castle Couture I get to sprinkle pixie dust on people! I absolutely love it.

Last night Stefani, Cassidy, Brittany, and I went to Villains Unleashed, which I’ll make a separate post about later.

Tonight while I was working at Sir Mickey’s, a little girl came over and asked for my autograph and to take a picture! I signed it “Princess Meghann”. Hopefully she didn’t think I was an actual disney princess.

So far, the homesickness isn’t too bad. Occasionally I’ll miss home and my family, but never enough to even think about leaving.

My roommates are still wonderful, our apartment is doable, and the buses aren’t as bad as I expected…but sometimes they are.

So far I’ve resisted pin collecting…but those shoe ornaments they have here…I might not be able to resist them for much longer…
