Packing to go anywhere can be a royal pain. No matter what, we’ll always forget something and there’s nothing more annoying than getting to a hotel to find out you’ve left your toothbrush and toothpaste in your bathroom at home!

I found that this happened one to many times so I created a solution: my grab tin.

A while ago I got this Dove Men+Care giftsetthat came presented with this study metal…

Boys don’t cry (and look at where that got us)

So this year I’ll be taking part in the Distinguished Gentleman’s ride* for prostate cancer and men’s mental health.

1 in 4 men die from suicide. 510,000 men die every year. Most of us know somebody who is already a victim, and if you don’t? Then you’re very lucky for the time being.

I may seem blunt on this post, but this is a blunt problem. Unfortunately men, from the cot to the coffin, have…

I’m a fanboy for Dr Martens….. I just need to say that out loud, admitting you have a problem is the first step!

My love for Dr Martens started with my parents. My Mother, an avid DM wearer for years and my father who I inherited my first pair of boots from!

My first pair were black, 10 hole, steel toe capped DMs they were lurking in my father’s shed. So naturally I adopted them as my own and…

This is my Mutt! There are many like it but this one is mine!

I’ve always wanted to ride a motorcycle. Ever since I was a kid watching Masked Rider (Kamen Rider) I wanted to be able to ride and be a hero. This only became more prevalent growing up. Terminator 2, The Great Escape, The Walking Dead; my life has been littered with heroic characters on two wheels!

There’s something effortlessly cool…

I enjoy a nice watch. It’s not easy to explain why, there’s something about well thought out design or good build quality or in this case, the fact that it’s bringing something different to the table.

Over the past few years I’ve seen a few wooden watches online, but not knowing much about them I sort of admired them from a distance.

But I managed to get hold of a pair of watches from a company called Kerbholz. A German company started by two friends on a backpacking adventure in 2011. While travelling South America they fell in love with the way wood was being used to design beautiful furniture.

TheAntique Sandalwood watch comes in the darker tone with Antique style brass fittings. A really nice and understated watch with something that also catches the eye.

The same watch in Rosewood is so much warmer and brighter. More immediately recognisable as being made from wood on the first glance. This finish really shows off the detail and natural lines of the wood grain.

Both of these items work so well as part of any outfit. In particular I’d pair the sandalwood watch with more formal looks such as the this outfit. I feel the rosewood watch works better as either a casual piece for every day wear or as a statement piece on an otherwise toned down outfit.

Overall both of these watches are just beautiful timepieces. Perfect for everyday wear as well as a smart addition to any design fans collection.

A few weeks ago something new and interesting came across my feed.

IKEA had just dropped a collection called SPÄNST. A new, more gritty and urban collaboration made in conjunction with Chris Stamp of Stampd.

When I first saw the product range show up on my news feed I was instantly excited by certain items such as the shoe/skateboard rack and the mesh wardrobe. The whole range has this post industrial aesthetic to is that suits my tastes perfectly.

Finally getting to see the range in person at my local Ikea store was great. I can never tell if I really like an item til I see it in person, and I was very impressed.

I ended up leaving the store with the skateboard under my arm that day. Its very different from boards I had when I was younger I rode a narrow deck board with fairly hard, narrow wheels that were great for park riding but not much else. This SPÄNST board however is a fairly wide, cruiser type board. The wheels are massive, wide and soft. The combination actually makes for a really smooth ride.

The board graphics are actually really interesting. A white and black marble effect print on the underside, the longditude and latitude co-ordinates of the first Ikea store and the first Stampd store and emblazoned on the sidewalls of the wheels as well as in a cutaway on the griptape near the tail end of the board.

As I mentioned earleir there are so many items from this range that I’d love to get. as of July I’ll be in a nice new space and hopefully that’ll mean another trip to IKEA where I can pick up a few of the LED light sticks to make an interesing ambient light installation out of!
