Merlin Angst Alphabet

A = Anger (what are they like when they’re angry?)

Merlin gets childish when he’s angry. He’ll yell and stomp and have this adorable look of frustration on his face.

B = Break Up (if they had to, how would they break up with you?)

Directly, but gently. He doesn’t want any misunderstandings, and it’ll be because of his duty to Arthur that he breaks things off with you.

C = Cry (how often do they cry? do they cry over little things?)

He doesn’t cry too often, but often enough that it doesn’t all come spilling out at once. He won’t cry over little things, considering he usually has much more bigger things to save his tears for.

D = Debt (how do they make it up to you when they’ve done something wrong?)

Usually with an apologetic look on his face and maybe some of your favorite wildflowers, no matter if he gets cut up by thorns, or gets poison ivy. He just desperately wants you to forgive him.

E = Entrapment (how would they react to you being kidnapped?)

Merlin would be so concerned for your safety and while he may not be the smoothest of rescue parties, he’s not going to sit back and wait for your return, he’ll go after you.

F = Fear (how badly do they fear losing you? do they fear for you somehow losing them?)

He does fear losing you, of course he does, but he has to admit it’s not always his first concern. He’s got a royal prat to worry about the well-being of as well.

G = Grief (if you were to die, how would they react?)

Merlin would be in tears over it. Possibly for several days he wouldn’t get out of bed. Eventually he knows he’ll have to press on, but not without allowing himself a proper grieving period.

H = Heartbreak (what would it take to break their heart?)

If you hid part of yourself from him, it’d break his heart. He took the risk to show you his magic and to think you couldn’t be open with him after that would truly break his trust in you.

I = Insensitive (how do they act when they know they’ve said something that upset you?)

Merlin will apologize until he’s blue in the face. He’ll do or say anything to make it up to you, and you know that he didn’t mean to upset you.

J = Jerk (when can they tell you’re mad at them? do either of you resort to name calling?)

When you won’t speak to him and pretend like he’s not there, that’s when he’s sure he’s done something to upset you, but neither of you ever resort to name calling.

K = Knife (how do they feel about hurting others? physically or emotionally?)

He hates hurting anyone in any way unless it’s absolutely necessary and unavoidable.

L = Liar (are they a good liar? how often do they lie to you?)

He’s a terrible liar when it comes to small things like surprises, but when it matters, he can lie, especially when it’s something as important as his magic.

M = Maudlin (how do you cheer them up when they’re feeling sad?)

Tickling him usually gets him laughing. And once you get him laughing, he’s usually able to cheer up pretty quick.

N = Never (what would they do if they knew they could never be with you?)

He’d accept it, probably even think it’s for the best. He could put you in a lot of danger for a lot of reasons and he’d rather see you safe.

O = Oath (what happens when you break a promise? how do they take it?)

Merlin is usually pretty understanding when you break a promise. It might hurt him a little depending on how big of a promise it was.

P = Pressure (how do they handle stress? how do you help them relax?)

He’s pretty good at managing his stress, call it a side effect of helping/saving Arthur all the time. But he does like it when you do a few of his chores for him to lessen his workload. Having just one or two less things to be done is a great way to relax him.

Q = Quiet (do they ever give you the silent treatment? how do they react when you give it to them?)

No, Merlin is hardly ever silent. He couldn’t keep up a silent treatment no matter how hard he tried.

R = Rejection (how would they take it if you were to reject them?)

Merlin would be sad, but would understand and wish to remain friends if you were agreeable to that.

S = Self Doubt (what are they insecure about?)

Merlin is insecure the most when he’s trying to flirt. He feels like he’s always doing it all wrong and you’ll find him awkward and stupid, which while partially true, is also what makes him so endearing.

T = Triangle (what would they do if they were caught in a love triangle with you? would they fight for you or give you up?)

He’d probably give up the fight, unless he was sure the other person involved just wasn’t right for you at all. Even then he’d be fighting for your happiness rather than just for you to be with him.

U = Unloved (what would you do to make sure they felt loved?)

You’d tell him what a good job he was doing. He always feels like he’s barely hanging on, and to know you think he’s doing great always makes him feel warm and fuzzy.

V = Vault (do they keep their emotions sealed tight, or do they let them out openly?)

He’s pretty open with his emotions, especially around people he loves and trusts. He only seals them up when he has to be brave.

W = Wound (how do they react when you’ve been injured?)

He takes you to Gaius immediately. He’ll help him tend to you, or do so himself if Gaius is unavailable. And he’ll constantly fuss and worry over you until you’ve fully healed.

X = X Lovers (what happens when they’re confronted with an ex of yours?)

Merlin will get really awkward, probably won’t stop talking, even if he’s not making any sense.

Y = Yell (how often do fights occur? how bad do they get?)

Fights don’t happen often as Merlin likes to be as non confrontational as possible. And they aren’t often that bad when they do occur.

Z = Zestless (what happens if you lose that initial spark with them?)

You’ll probably mutually decide to move on if you don’t think it can be reignited. And while it’s a little sad, you know you tried.
