I chose Miku because Vocaloids inspired me to first start cosplaying and she has so many beautiful outfits to choose from. I’ve always loved the Magical Mirai outfits that came out every year but when I saw the Pink and Blue version I just had to do it since they are my favorite color combo!
A big challenge in making the costume was my rings and making them stand up. I originally only had two poles holding it up on my back but it was so unstable I had to completely remake my harness I wore under my dress and add more poles to support the middle.
I wasn’t expecting the amount of compliments I was getting. People were constantly coming up to me and complimenting my craftsmanship and I’ve never had something like that happen at such a high volume.Through cosplay, I’ve learned what my strengths and weaknesses are in both crafting and as a person. I’m not a very social person so cosplay gives me an outlet to be more confident and comfortable talking with people.
