“I need time… to put myself back together.” Adrien was doing his best, but his voice kept breaking. “I feel like a shattered teapot. The water is all over the floor, I don’t even know where all the pieces are…” Was he even making sense anymore? “I think we need to take a step back, yes.”
“They’ll need you in the First. There’s still so much to do, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to help like I once could. There’s just… so much I’ll need to learn now.” It all spilled out of him in a weeping, jumbled mess. Gods, his head hurt so much. He raised a shaking hand to his temple.
“I didn’t mean to put this all on you now. I wanted to wait until morning, at the very least. But there it is.”
