“I’m cold, do you mind if I wear this?” You asked as you sat with your best friend, Jisung, along the river edge. You held up the sweater he had not long removed from himself, the brown knitted thing looking much lighter in the sunlight.
Jisung froze for a moment, unsure what to say. He’d imagined you, his best friend, wearing his clothes more times than he’d care to admit, and now that the time had come he didn’t know what to do.
“Jisung?” You questioned, wondering why your friend had stilled so suddenly. “I don’t have to if you don’t want me to, it’s just that it’s a bit chilly.”
“Oh, um, no. Go ahead,” he managed, unable to draw his eyes from you as you pulled the sweater over your head and adjusted it so it fit you better.
“Ugh, so warm!” You smiled, and Jisung took a sharp breath, butterflies flooding his stomach as he watched how happy — and natural — you looked in his clothing.
You pulled the collar of the sweater up to your face, your eyes widening as you looked over at Jisung. “Wow, it even smells like you!” You laughed.
Jisung’s heartbeat picked up steadily, the poor thing pounding hard against his ribcage. He felt the familiar sensation of a hot blush on his cheeks — something he found only happened when he was with you— and raised a hand to subtly try to hide his reddening face.
Luckily for him, you were too preoccupied with his sweater to notice. Sitting up on your knees, you turned your torso to show off the top to Jisung.
“What do you think? Does it suit me?”
Jisung, who had now decided to focus his gaze on a blade of grass in front of him, glanced over at you quickly, a small smile forming on his lips.
“You look—ahem, you look good,” he managed, his voice cracking slightly with nervousness.
“Ah, I’m glad!” You said, leaning back towards Jisung and resting your head on his shoulder. “You’re the best."
In that moment, Jisung realised that the butterflies he felt in his stomach every time he was with you was something that probably didn’t happen between two people who were justfriends.

when you were younger, you thought hiding in the bookstore would be a genius idea.
and as fate would have it, you managed to win that game of hide-and-go-seek by a landslide.
so as a childhood spot, why were you back there?
simple, to revisit where it all started.
“y/n?”
“come on out. why are you trying to play hide-and-seek? we’re not children anymore.” a panicked timbre resonates through the shelves of thousands of books on display.
when the person doesn’t receive an answer, they sigh. “if you come out, i’ll let you win.”
smiling, you retrieve a book from the shelf in front of you. “i’m right here, jisung.” his eyes rush to search for your sweet voice.
when he spots you, he finds you behind the book shelf in front of him, grinning the widest smile he’s ever seen.
“you were so close.” you lightly laugh, cooing at the relieved boy.
his eyes squint at you, before he asks, “so,” he pauses. “why were you hiding behind a bookshelf in this bookstore?”
shrugging, you cheekily smile. “oh, i don’t know.”
the lilt in your tone eludes to another answer — one that park jisung doesn’t have — just another one of your traits that he finds cute.
peering through the bookshelf slot, both your pupils lock on one another. a melodic session of just staring at one another ensues. that is, before you break it.
“do you really not know why, jisung?”
the question swells in the tranquility of the bookstore.
jisung hums, the low tone vibrating through the air, smooth to your ears. “sorry, y/n.” he sheepishly raises his hand to scratch the back of his neck. “i’m not sure.”
an innocent look from him erupts a laugh from you. his irises sparkle, gazing at you smiling and playfully scold him. is this what they called whipped behaviour? because he sure as hell is in love with you.
knowing him well, a giggle escapes your lips, a glow painting your features. watching you clear your throat in your dorky tendencies, jisung’s blooming smile can’t be concealed.
“this is where you kissed me and promised me you’d stay by me when we were kids.”
jisung grins. “what can i say? i was pretty cool back then.”
“mhm, not anymore.”
at your counter, jisung huffs out a breath. “then hurry up and get over here. i’ll show you that i’m still cool.”
