One of my absolutely favourite quotes from Mockingjay, perfectly embodying the level of strength and independence that young girls can aspire to. Katniss Everdeen is someone who took on the responsibility of her family at age 12, the sole provider for her sister and mother, pulling her mother out of depression, making sure their predicament is kept a secret while making sure they don’t starve to death. Not accepting how the system works, but realizing her power to change it once she has bee recognised as a symbol.
While most people find the Hunger Games as a love triangle, the purpose of it is to bring to attention to young girls how you can be a survivor all on your own. It seems scary how close to the Capitol residents our population is by how they never fail to miss the most important points.
Sorry for the TLDR post, just super satisfied with my choice of character for cosplay.
