Allure: the myth, the legend, the tiefling who created Fantasy Mr Brightside (canon) 

I swear that this was supposed to be just a dumb picture but while I was drawing I came up with a short story, so here it is:

with Christmas time approaching Sinbad decides to surprise his and Ja’far’s adopted son, Aladdin, dressed as santa, however Ja’far isn’t fond of the idea but Sinbad doesn’t give up, he spends a couple of days trying to convince his husband to let him do this

eventually Ja’far gives in and allows it on one condition, Sinbad has to take this seriously, meaning he couldn’t give up halfway through and drinking alcohol is off limits too

but the biggest challenge during the night is going to be the kids, since he wouldn’t be surprising only Aladdin but the other kids as well since they invited a few close friends over who had young siblings and children too

Ja’far asks Sinbad if he truly wants to go through with it and for a second he falters, but his desire to make Aladdin’s first Christmas with them special is stronger so he says yes

when Christmas comes Ja’far makes sure to keep telling the guests that Sinbad will be dropping in very late because of work, they get the hint but the kids do not so when Sinbad shows up dressed up as santa the kids don’t suspect anything

the children instantly gather around him, cheerfully talking to him and he hears all of them out, since Aladdin is a bit shy he doesn’t join them so Ja’far helps him out by picking him up and putting him on Sinbad’s lap, who’s delighted to finally spend some time with his son too

but not long after that Aladdin starts wailing asking for Sinbad, which puts Sinbad in a really awkward position, on one hand he wants to comfort him, to tell him he’s right there but on the other hand he can’t just reveal it’s him under the santa costume

Ja’far picks him up again and leaves Sinbad behind to comfort him, which takes a while but Aladdin calms down a bit, Morgiana offers to play with him to distract him because he was still clearly upset

later Sinbad tries to approach Aladdin one last time but Morgiana immediately shields Aladdin and gets really defensive thinking Aladdin was scared of santa, and although it’s not that funny Ja’far finds himself chuckling at the irony

but having enough of this, Ja’far walks between them and subtly lets Sinbad know it’s not going to work so he should ‘come home’, Sinbad admits defeat and says goodbye to the kids then heads off to take off his santa suit

although Sinbad wants to, he doesn’t hurry back, he takes his time since he can’t really bring himself to pretend everything was okay because to him it wasn’t, he spent a long time preparing for this day, he wanted it to be special but he messed it all up

eventually he pulls himself together and tiredly joins the party once again but by the time he does Aladdin is too distracted by Masrur and Morgiana to notice he came back so he just plops down onto the couch

being exhausted Sinbad closes his eyes and hopes the night will end soon and he almost falls asleep, but a sudden small weight on his leg wakes him, when he opens up his eyes, he sees Aladdin reaching towards him, wanting to be picked up

it takes him a moment to do so but when he finally puts Aladdin into his lap, very carefully to avoid upsetting him again, he feels a bit better, Ja’far joins them for a bit and tells Sinbad that he hopes next year he’ll come home sooner

Sinbad takes the hint and promises he’ll do that, Ja’far eventually leaves them be and while Sinbad is making up for the lost time Aladdin shows him one of the biggest smiles he ever seen from him and that makes all the trouble he went through worth it

for the rest of the party Aladdin refuses to move from his spot and eventually both him and Sinbad fall asleep, so when Ja’far walks by to check on them and sees this, he softly smiles and puts a blanket over them

okay I know this is stupid, but I had to write it, also I don’t think it’s clear in the story but; in this au Ja’far and Sinbad are married and recently adopted Aladdin, and Morgiana isn’t their daughter, she’s Masrur’s sister
