i quit after the unwatchable 5th episode, but when i heard there was one soon after entirely dedicated to martin talking to his kids, i hopped back on this wagon just for a looksee.

• martin, malcolm and jessica remain amazing, chef’s kiss
• the show’s insinuating that ainsley, too, is interesting, but tbh, all i get from her is workaholic young lady trope
• you can skip 98% of nypd-case-of-the-week scenes and miss nothing whatsoever of interest or value - it actually IMPROVES the episodes a lot
• eve blanchard feels like she could shape up to be an absolute fire character - competent, manipulative and hell bent on fucking up the whitlys - i’d LOVE if eve turned out to be martin’s equal, but working on behalf of his victims, journey of revenge style… but i suspect she won’t and malcolm will take her down easily, a shame
• this show has no soul when michael sheen isn’t around
• which is why they should have gone with a short season, 20+ episode is yikes
