One of von Gloeden’s most recognisable models, the charming Pascquale Stracuzzi or ‘Pasqualino’ (right), in a very similar pose to this beautiful photograph, but here having gained an equally graceful and good-looking companion.
The charismatic and quite lovely Pascquale Stracuzzi, known fondly as Pasqualino, modestly draped in a swathe of white fabric as he poses against the most spectacular scenic view in all Sicily; a snow-capped Mount Etna visible high above the shining sea.
Etna Eruption, Sicily Photograph: Giuseppe Mario Famiani
Etna volcano in eruption (crater ‘Voragine’). Photo taken from the town of Cesarò (1150mt a.s.l.), in the province of Messina, on 4 December 2015, 30 km as the crow flies. The column of smoke reached 15km in height above the Etna Volcano (3350mt). The resemblance to a mushroom cloud is rendered thanks to the absence of clouds and wind.
